Hi everybody, and once again I’m very sorry for the delay in starting the new season. But we’re ready to go now! Here’s a final list of players, who have been divided into divisions of five or six people:
(the best second-place player in division 5 will be automatically promoted, the other two will play off against a player from division 4)
Check the Memory League website for your matches, and let’s all get going! Contact me with any questions or problems, and I’ll try to stay in touch with everyone as much as I can! Good luck!
Thanks Ben for getting season 5 up and running! thanks also to whoever has set up the automated messages/timings in the weekly schedules to try and help finalising times for each match. Suggesting a time which then is converted into the other player’s time zone is a good idea - I’ve messed up on quite a number of timings through my basic ignorance of when I’m in GMT and when GMT+1 etc!
Looking forward to season 5
Chris
Sorry, but the season has already started now. If somebody drops out, you might be able to join as a replacement - I’ll let you know if that happens.
And the season is officially up and running! We’ve had our first match, with @syustel beating @LucasB, and several more already lined up for the next few days! Woohoo!
Ian Fennell does not seem to have an account on art of memory and my FB messenger is disabled on my replacement phone for lack of space. Hum. Anyone has any idea as to how best to reach him to schedule a match? Maybe here? No, he doesn’t have an account here. Hum. Well judging by his FB account, he lives in the UK, three hours ahead which makes matching a challenge when you work weekdays as I do. Weekends are sure open though. Well, if he comes looking for me here, he will know what the issue is.
Sorry, it’s a bit confusing with most people having a forum account but some not.
If there isn’t a link to a private message on your match row on the League page, your opponent doesn’t have a forum account (as far as we know). In that case you can click into the Messages field and type a message to your opponent directly on the League page. When you’ve typed the message, press Enter, and click the “Send to Opponent” button to send it to your opponent via email.
Next season we’ll try to make sure everyone has a forum account, so communication will be easier.
You need to arrange a time with your opponent, then when you’re both ready to play, go to the ‘Compete’ tab, click ‘Specific’ opponent and put their name in the box. Click the event you’re playing, and then on the next screen select the ‘League match’ type.
Sorry, I wasn’t clear enough. By “the League page” I don’t mean the Memory League home page, I mean the page under the “League” section that shows your division.
As you’ve already managed to contact and play Ian Fennell, the screenshot below shows how to contact your other opponent who doesn’t have an Art of Memory account - Anu Purevod.
Ho, thanks, this is clearer. Still, this page is a bit different on my Android; there is no message column for me to click on. It turns out Anu is the only one I haven’t been able to contact so far as she didn’t respond to my comment in her FB post but I should be able to contact her as others have managed to play with her.
Thanks for looking into this
Do you know if Byambatsogt Byambadorj and “blabla” (in two different divisions) are the same person? I kinda recognized the recall style from one to the other and their names in the table above are eerily similar!
