I don’t know, but if it’s the same person, that would explain how blabla got 5 personal records in a row during a league match.
Maybe we’ll find out if blabla gets promoted and has to play Byambatsogt Byambadorj in division 2 next season!

I just discovered the automated messages in my inbox that should help me to arrange the matches. What do I do with them? Does my opponent get a message when I reply? Sry, I’m not the brightest one ^^’
Sorry, we didn’t make it clear.
In cases where both players have a forum account, we set up a private message in the forum for each match, that you can use to communicate with your opponent. You should see a link to the private message on the “League” page in Memory League.
Your opponent will be notified when you reply to the forum message. You can also use the “Insert date / time” feature by clicking the little calendar icon while writing your message, and any date/time you enter will automatically be converted into your opponent’s time zone when they read the message, which is useful for arranging match times across time zones.
Once you have arranged a match time with your opponent, it would be good if one of you could enter it back on the “League” page, so it will appear in the Scheduled League Matches section on the Home page.
If one or both players don’t have a forum account, there won’t be a link on the “League” page, and it is like previous seasons - you can write notes to your opponent there in the Messages box, and click a button to send them to your opponent.
Hope that makes sense!
Ok, I think I’ve got it. Thanks!
@Simon What’s the “Contact League Administrator” button for? Can we send our results there in order to get them displayed on the “League” page?
You don’t need to do that - Simon or I add the results onto the League page as soon as we see them. If you’ve got any other issues you might want to ask about, go ahead and send us a message. ![]()
Okay, thank you Ben ![]()
I can’t seem to be able to contact Nour Elagamy, any idea how to reach her?
I sent Nour a message on Facebook - she says she’d like to drop out of the league, as she’s still working on updating her system. @jygdke - would you still like to join this season? If you can play five matches very quickly, we could add you into division 2b.
I’ve also asked Byambatsogt Byambadorj about blabla - he says that account is being used by a friend of his.
As long as it isn’t the same person playing in two divisions, it’s all good!
A couple of questions/suggestions for next seasons, if I may:
would it be a good idea to only allow international names for the League matches?
probably not implementable without a lot of careful considerations … what about trying to increase the attractivity of the League (and the site itself) by offering actual prizes to division winners or best scorers (or most improved player, best beginner, …). This would require a joining fee for the League (which in itself isn’t without issues) and probably something like the safety measures used previously for the XMT qualifiers, i.e. recording oneself and one’s screen whilst playing (not super easy either perhaps?). Or does someone have ideas about other types of incentives that would help selling ML and the League to a wider audience?
→ would it be a good idea to only allow international names for the League matches?
I think it would make sense to at least have an open identity policy in the league. At least to make sure that we avoid this kind of “duplicate users” issue. I also believe this would improve transparency and make it easier to contact people outside of ML.

one way to ensure this could be to simply restrict the League matches to paying users.
a cool prize could be simply league points, or extra badges/achievements, or also a few months free subscription to the site or a discount coupon.
By “international names” I meant using non-national names in the Names event, as I believe that it’s still the case that some of the national distributions of names are easier than others. But yeah, open identity could be good too.
Giving prizes for the league is always going to lead to suspicions of cheating, especially against newcomers… I prefer it being just friends playing against each other for no reward. ![]()
Yes, I guess that’s the biggest obstacle when trying to up the stakes and rewards. Perhaps this falls under the larger theme of trying to get more people into memory sports, but I’d love for 10 times as many people as right now to be participating in ML matches and competitions. I think the site’s concept is so great and so well designed that it deserves way more audience!
What are factors that make other seemingly repetitive games attractive to newcomers and addictive afterwards?
Hi @all,
nice that I was accepted for this season 5.
Is it only me or does anybody had also problems to contact different opponents?
I guess that I need to train more to get in a better division next time (now: 5c).
So that I get hopefully more opponents that want to answer to my messages.
And for the team that are doing the website: Thanks for the better message system. It helps to find the right date and time.
Congratulations to Division 1b on being the first to finish all their regular season matches.
It would be great if we can finish up season 5 during July and start season 6 in August.
Hi Simon,
I hope you are keeping well ![]()
I am hoping to take part in season 6…not sure where I put my name down…
Anastasia
That’s great - there should be a call for season 6 players very soon, so watch this space!
If anyone still has season 5 matches to finish, please try to get to them in the next week or two!
Does someone remember how long the previous seasons took?
I’ve been unable to successfully coordinate one of my matches (timezone/communication issues), I sort of assumed the system would eventually default the match to a loss or a draw or something if it never meets some kind of expiration deadline?
Could we perhaps go back to larger divisions? It seems like this season took nearly as long as the previous one to complete, which means that the chances to play “for real” were way sparser … Perhaps it’s due to people being on holiday and all?
What do you all think?
