Sorry I haven’t been in touch just lately - personally, I think we need to be a bit more strict with the next season; try to arrange all the times and dates right at the start of the season, and get things booked into people’s calendars…
Yeah, stricter is probably the way to go. People also need to be more realistic when registering about the chances of their managing to squeeze these matches into their calendars. Not sure it’d be possible for every motivated competitor to plan for all matches right at the start of the season though. Maybe having a cut-off concept after half the season? If you haven’t played 2-3 games at half-time, you’re out? Or is it too harsh?
I want some help. I can’t not contact other players from my division 5b, still have 4 matches left to complete, what should I do?
Excuse me,Simon.I wonder if you can find a way to contact other players to tell them that we need to complete their divisions ASAP so we can move on to S6,ok? Thanks alot!
I dropped out of my Division very early on - no games had been played - because I realised I would have difficulty competing, and wanted to give my place to someone who would use it.
My replacement played two games fairly quickly (so they did make use of the opportunity) but, looking at my Division today, those are the only two games that have been played so I’m guessing they had trouble contacting people.
It seems a shame that such a great idea - ie a competitive league - isn’t working as well as it might. It would be interesting to know why people ask to compete then don’t. In my case, it was pressure of work and the realisation that I’m happier competing against myself. I knew I couldn’t do myself justice so stepped down quickly. (Though I did compete in the previous season and ended up runner-up in my Division.)
Perhaps many people are overcome with enthusiasm, followed promptly by nerves. (I know I was, in the previous season.) I’m aware, from my own experience, that it’s often difficult to get hold of people. Perhaps this plays a part, too.
I’ve taken a break from memory work for the past few months and have lost a bit of ground. I hope to get back into it soon and may, one day, try to compete again, though I’ve no immediate plans.
There does need to be some way to ensure as many games as possible are played. Looking at the Divisions, it seems clear that, for whatever reason, many people, having offered to compete, don’t really want to.
There’s probably no easy way to find out why - though it would be interesting if we could! And it might help for the smooth running of these matches in the future.
Hi, if you are wondering to see how well you performed for each Discipline during the Season 5. You can find Results here:
