I’m watching a short video on Youtube and I have a strange deja vu feeling when I hear the song that is used as background sound for it. The song is the “Oh Yeah song” from Yello; this song has been used in many movies and commercials. For some reason I had temporarily forgotten that this was a song from Yello. I could have sworn that it was part of the soundtrack of the manga movie Space Adventure Cobra, so I Google “oh yeah Cobra” and the first video link is that of the tv show Cobra Kai (based on the Karate Kid movie) with the above mentioned song and I don’t find anything linking the song to the manga movie (not at first anyway, see below comments). The strange thing is that I have never watched this tv show. The only thing that I can think of that the manga movie and the Yello song have in common is that they are both really weird. Can anyone come up with an explanation for this?
Just minutes after posting the above I see in the comments section on Youtube under the video of the opening soundtrack of the Space Adventure Cobra movie, that Yello is indeed used in the English version (as opposed to the American) of this movie. According to some comments on “anime” reddit this version is very rare. I guess I have more or less explained my own mystery. Weird still is that after not finding a connection at first try I was convinced that I was mistaken and I thought I had swapped the song with a different but similar (also very weird) sounding song.
Come to think of it, this 2 version Movie phenomenon (like English and American) might explain the Mandela Effect (the effect that many people appear to remember the same event incorrect but similar to one another).
I have experienced something similar before, see link:
