Hello everyone
I m trying to use images for the medical and general terms that i m finding while reading my medical textbooks. Should i make some kind of “image - dictionary” of my own where i should write ir store pictures that represent any particular term so that i dont go on creating new images for the same term if i have not revised it for a while and have forgotten that i have already assigned an image for it…Any help will b deeply appreciated…
@ramanujansri, absolutely!
I have a specialized set of terminology for what I memorize and have created a terminology list with very visual substitute words. The medical field is no different. In some cases, the substitute words may be based on a feature of the medical term and needs to have a visual with it.
Keep expanding it and reviewing it so the images stay fresh in your mind when you need them. After a while, they will be easy to retrieve. If you need help with specific terms, let me know!
Doug
Hi, @ramanujansri. I would definitely recommend that you do so. Many people here use different fixed mnemonic images, in a per case basis. I recommend a very systematic approach that may or may not be right for you, but you can take a look at it:
It actually has evolved into the development of an expanding personal mnemonic language for me, so the post is a little dated, but I’ll make an update to celebrate my first 1000 concept-characters soon (currently have 914 learned and used characters in my language, plus descriptors and connectors). Hope this helps ![]()
Thank u Doug for ur amazing suggestion. I will also try to develop a list of terminologies with their visual substitutes.
Thank u DanteGaxiola. Thats a wonderful system that u have.
Will love to experiment and tell u my findings.
I hope you do! Best of luck!
Maybe you do not need to create images for all the words, I had heard that the more your skills will improve with memory technique the lesser images you will use or maybe need,
Maybe creating images for a limited number of the most common words and practicing with them untill you need lesser images(49% of all the written text is 200 most common words) and maybe you can practice with a limited number of images(Ex-200 images or 10 images of the 10 most common words which may make more than 26% of the written words in English and maybe if your skills with those 10 words will improve then you may need fewer images and you may practice until you only require to imagine one image out of those 10 words per 5 words and if you find a new word you may create an image for that also, Maybe I wrote the last sentence in the style of Anthony Metivier(I think who is a legend).
Although I do not know wheter the above will work and maybe some modifications to what I have written above may work,
The steps of what I have told you is-
-
Create an image dictionary with only the 10 most common words in the English Language.
-
Increase your skill.
-
Try to memorize the text with your image dictionary and add more images if needed.
-
If you see a word that you feel is difficult to remember or you may not be able to remember then create an image for that.
Notes-
-
The more your skills will develop the fewer images you may need.
-
The 10 most common words make up more than 25% of the words in the English language and the 200 most common words make up 49% of the most common words in English language text and you can find a list of those 10 most common words below-
- Skills may be improved rapidly through Rapid Skill Acquisition or the 100 hour rule by which you can have world class skills in any skill that you chose, Ex-The skill of memory or maybe the skill of rememebering words accurately from a textbook or book by using an image dictionary with some words,
And,
Have a Great Day.
Yaa may b u r correct aicreator…will experiment further on ur advice…thank u so much
