Shaper - Intuitive system Combined

I am reworking my shaper images so that I can more readily ‘see’ the images clearly. This is really nothing novel and @erol started a thread for his Shaper-System along the same lines.

For a review of discussions see the attached link:

In summary the following slides I have prepared below sums up what I’m setting out to achieved where my numbers 00 - 99 are broken down into 3 main types: Shaper Keyword, Intuitive Keyword and a Palindromic Keyword for numbers whose digits are identical: 00, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99

I effectively have 45 slides (Red Blue) and 10 slides palindromic, meaning the learning is streamlined to 45 Pairs + 10 Palindromic images:

An example of my Palindromic Keyword for 00 is Buzz Lightyear who says: “To infinity and beyond!”

I have found that colour-coding the 3 different catagories of two-digit numbers as I have done into: Red, Dark Blue and Baby Blue has helped in locking these images into my long-term memory. I haven’t yet completed the exercise in its entirety but what I have completed thus far looks promising.

Any comments most welcome.

Nice idea, @fred2!

I’m interested to see how it works for you in practice! Would love it if you would update this thread with your observations as you practice it.

Maybe set a goal to work towards using the system, like X digits in Y seconds/minutes, or Z total digits memorized in sequence? That would help see how effective this system can be!

(Interestingly, this reminds me very much of the first iteration of the Shadow System where instead of one image representing two pairs, the mirrored suits got complementary or intuitive images assigned to them based on the primary one. Again, I’ll be interested in how it works for you!)

Hi Tim, I get my kicks from developing mnemonic systems not from competing in “memory competitions”. Of course the ‘x digits in Y seconds, or Z total digits memorized in sequence within a given time’ would be worthy benchmarks to gauge whether the system has merits. Truths be told though, I am more interested in using the 00 - 99 sequence as fixed memory pegs than anything else. I am not a disciple of the Loci System and far prefer using pegs to “glue” whatever it is to be remembered onto. So if I add another 4 pegs to give me a total of 104 peg words, the peg words themselves could be used to recall 2 shuffled decks of cards. For remembering chains of numbers, I would probably use the Dominic or Major System’s PAO.

My interest also lies in teaching others.

A further example to illustrate the “Shaper” two-digit number vs the “Intuitive” two-digit number:

I find I can quickly rotate the two-digit numbers both ways round. If I’m needing to know what #70 is, I always rotate the two-digit number back to its “smaller number” first, which in this instance would be #07. My shaper for #07 is an Axe. Therefore the intuitive thing that goes with the Axe is Firewood. Thus Firewood is #70.
