What do we want, more registrations, or, more frequent league seasons?
I think taking into account that we had the ML Remote Tournament at the end of May with quite some preparation before it and the additional fact that some people were not even available to play before the end of May at all due to other reasons, I think a bit more time would be good.
Also, as a sidenote, I think it is maybe not the most convenient way to have all these conversations in a forum form when things like Whatsapp or, in particular Slack, seem much more convenient. I understand it makes sense to have it within the AoM framework but still, just some input.
I do not value registrations that end up in no shows. 16 athletes never played a single match. I think were better off without them. I prefer quality over quantity.
What about having a chatting system here on the site? That could make it much easier for athletes. For example, seeing if others are online.
Great to see quite a few more matches being played this weekend. We are now up to 125 out of 215 matches played, which is 58%.
Since we now have some momentum going, particularly in the higher divisions, let’s allow just a few extra days for people to finish things off. The deadline for regular season matches is now:
2020-06-20T00:00:00Z
Please try to play any outstanding matches you can by then.
There may be a small tradeoff in convenience, but those kinds of walled gardens aren’t discoverable on the open Web and don’t get as much traffic. I think that memory sports won’t grow quickly and be able to reach the mainstream if people can’t find the information by searching in Google.
It’s already possible to install the forum on mobile phones (with chat-like notifications), but there should probably be some more real-time features.
(For example, you can subscribe to all posts in the Memory League section and get push notifications on your desktop and mobile phone for each new post.)

@Josh Ok, get your intention. Ideally such things would be in addition to having things here. Because in order for memory sports to grow, I think the most direct link are the athletes who take part in ML and tell others about it. And making it a bit more convenient for these athletes in addition to what is already here (which is cool, to be clear) cannot hurt, I think.
In the end, I guess those who want to make additional whatsapp or Slack groups would simply do that if the others in their division agree, and people would probably still post here.
I think the current setup has everything it needs to have, dedicated threads with a nice time-conversion feature, everyone guaranteed to be part of a thread. What lacks is maybe the awareness of:
- process (you have to contact your opponents yourself, you have to update your availability)
- tools (availability tool and time-conversion tool)
- deadlines (you can play matches at your own pace, but make sure to finish them until XXX)
- rules (picking names and intl names, playing only 5 matches, not knowing who starts, etc)
- expectations from others (well, at least @Philodoof and I, but probably more
) whose hearts sink after realizing that not (close to) all competitors seem to care about keeping the competition alive. Plus it can make the parallel divisions unfair if one has 6 active competitors when another only has 3.
We’re now up to 128 out of 215 matches played (59.5%).
If anyone wants to withdraw from the season:
- let me know - here or via private message
- the results of any matches you have played this season will be removed
- I will add “(withdrawn)” to your name in the League table
- you will finish last in the division (which may affect your division for future seasons if you choose to play again)
hi,simonThank you very much, the previous help for the match, can I join in now,my memeryleague name is Peter Zhu(Haonan).
The next season will probably start in July when the finals of this season have been played. When registration is open, we will announce it on the Memory League home page and here in the forum.
OK, we ended up with 133 out of 215 matches played, which is 62%.

You can enter your availability at the appropriate link above, and send a private message to your opponent here in the forum to arrange your match time.
As usual, the player on the left has first choice. For the playoffs, you have 4 choices each. You cannot choose both Names and International Names. You score 1 point for each win, and 0.5 points for a draw. If one player reaches 4.5 or 5 points, they have won the match and there is no need to play on. If the score gets to 4-4, the choice of events starts over, and the match ends when one player is 2 points ahead of the other.
Good luck everyone!
Edit: Sorry, I wrongly had @abderrahman1672 in the division 3/4 playoff. It should be @MartynaGrela as they had the same points but Martyna won their head to head match. Thanks to @random_username for pointing out the mistake.
@Johnnyworldwide @Lkhagvadulam03 @Sylle @AndreaMuzii @Hannes @AlexGo @Boris:
Hannes mentioned to me that it would be cool if we played all the finals on a weekend, so that it would be more interesting and people could better watch. Would e.g next weekend work for you all? ![]()
Why cant I send a private message? I havnt this option.
Hello Simon, when my memoryleague logs in, I cannot receive emails, so I cannot log in to my memoryleague account. Can you help me find the reason? I need to train on the website every day, so I am in a hurry.

Sorry about that. It’s fixed now.
