My turn to ask for help.
I want to expand my PAO to 999, but on an as needed basis.
My PAO is based on the major system (modified, see examples below), my basis is in French, but any words in English, German, Spanish, Esperanto, Russian or Japanese are welcome too (I’m not picky, because filling these gaps is hard and some of the ones I have are not so great).
I need, for a project, people for the numbers 201 to 226 and 301 to 318. Often I found names but of people I barely know so images are unclear.

I like “neon lights”, I see it as shining little fishes (which could be swimming in the air too, because why not), I’ll use it for the object I think, since I really like nanny lady (Mary Poppins) for the person.
I didn’t know what was a murphy bed, but murphy as an object makes me immediately think about a slice of bread. (La tartine qui tombe toujours du côté du beurre). Could be for the object (even if I don’t need objects immediately, anything that fills my 999 list is welcome).
I don’t know the pinhead “nail man”, but it could be a man offering manicures or somebody who has a hammer so “everything is a nail” … or NLM could be national liberation movement → a communist (Marx?)… I’m still on the fence with this one.

My PAO is actually only person-object (as I find pre-defined actions too limiting).
I already have 0-99 and have really used it a lot, so I want to expand it to 999. People are needed in priority.
I have an excel file where I note ideas as they come, but I didn’t fill it out systematically (because waaay too much work). So I’m concentrating on the numbers that I need to have right now (because I have a hard time concentrating on things that don’t have an immediate use).
If you’ve already got a 2-digit action list, you could try a 3x3x2 if you wanted to experiment. 1000 people, 1000 objects, and 100 2-digit actions. That’s my next step!
On the one hand, I do like being able to use freeform instinctual actions that flow naturally from the people/object combos.
On the other, I really like having the action element encode information, so I always feel like I could be more effective with 8 digits per scene.
I’m interested to compare the two approaches and see if just PO gives me comparable digit totals per minute and if the accuracy benefits from natural actions.
Not quite ready for that project yet. Maybe 2024 New Years Resolution!
With the idea of expanding from 99 to 999, some of my characters are going to be shifted (for example Neville, Nefertiti and Navis from 29 to 291, 290 and 295 respectively).
For most of these I found alternatives, but I’m still missing new people for:
16: L+J/CH (missing a person, I already have objects : luge, louche, langes)
29: N+V/F/PH (missing person, already using object “navi”)
38: M+P/B (missing person, already using object “mappe”)
39: M+F/V (Maeva?) (using object maafe, but something better would be nice)
98: M+P/B (missing both person and object, all have been shifted to numbers 98x)
Also for phone numbers in my country the most common operator initial codes are
076 (R+T/D+SH/J): radish (radish god in spirited away, the vagetable)
077 (R+T/D+T/D): Ratatac/Rondoudou (pokémon), Ratatouille (the rat, the dish)
078 (R+T/D+P/B): ?
079 (R+T/D+F/V): ? radovi (so construction worker for person, and traffic cone for object?)
Which would be quite useful to fill out, if you have any brillant ideas…

Realistically it’s not something I’ll have the time to try out. If I manage to get a full 999 PAO (or rather PO) till end of 2024 I’ll be very happy. Still very interested to read about it if you try it out.

I really like red baron for 078 and Rudolf. Only I would instinctinvely pronounce it German-like so RDLF so 071…
So now I’m unsure what is the best:
I have Maybeth for 38, which, strictly speaking, should be 387 and could be replaced by Mab queen of the fairies.
But I could also have moby dick for 387 and keep Maybeth for 38, because I’m really used to it and it’s already in several memory palaces. But it sort of an inconsistency because it doesn’t stop after the second syllable.
Same for Nestor which is currently 25 and should be 257. But I could still keep it for 25 because he really comes easily to mind and take anesthésiste for 257…
So ease of habit or consistency?
I held strictly to the idea of ONLY using 2-consonant words for 2-digit numbers. I allowed multiple extra consonants for the 3-digits. This eliminated any conflict or confusion because if the word ended after 2 sounds, it HAD to be a 2-digit number. If it was 3+ sounds it HAD to be 3-digit.
Think you for all your insights! I’ll be on holidays for a while so I’m going to let it rest for now, but I’ll come back to it later.
So, after a short break (one week of holiday offline was marvelous, but the backlog of anki cards coming back took me almost a week to absorb again), I’m continuing with developping my PAO (only people for know) on an as-needed-basis.
It means I need now 227-230 and 301-321.
The 300s came much easier than the 200s for some reason…
Where there is a (?) means I found something, but it doesn’t evoke a good image in my head.
If you have an amazing idea for something I have already filled, propose it. It’s still very much in construction and nothing is fixed.

I especially like the nanobots (I picture them bring injected with a syringe), the miner, and martin luther king. I don’t visualise Nimrod at all (I should look up what his story is, see if he can gain some defining caracteristic), but niniveh for Jonah is great (I imagine the poor guy completely bald with parchment-like skin, etc… being half-digested and all).
