This is a great way to learn a stack. If you can, try making all of your “card images” into characters (don’t have to be people, just sentient actors.) Then try to make all of your “numbers” objects. Having the card characters interact with the number objects will provide consistency in your system and increase your recall speed depending on which way you need to recall during a trick. If you need to remember a specific card’s position, recall the card character and picture what it is interacting with. If you need to recall the identity of a card at a specific stack position, picture the stack object and then picture what is acting on it. (You can also do the inverse… make all your card images as objects, and all your number images as characters who initiate activity.)
Not sure how familiar you are with memory sports in general or other techniques, but this is the beginnings of a “PO” (person/object) or “PAO” (person/action/object) system that is used in numbers (and cards) events in memory sport. Its a great way to get a foundation for those. I started with memory techniques because I discovered memdecks and the Aronson stack. Have fun!
