Hi, I’m keen to learn Juan Tamariz memorised deck, i have details of the stack……would anyone like to suggest a starting place? Totally new to memory work…thanks in advance…alec
You might wanna start here…
Since you also said, you’re…
…you might also wanna have a look here to understand how a memory palace works.
Basically, all you need to do is create an image for each of the 52 cards and then instead of placing 44 presidents in your palace, you just place your images for the 52 cards. You can also place two cards per location and thereby cut down your number of loci from 52 to 26.
Hi Alec,
I’d suggest creating a Person / Action system for the numbers 1 to 52 and the same for a pack of cards. That, from experience is your most effective starting point. I’ve tested on students various different ways and that method has proven to be the fastest to learn and retain. You’ll want to spend some time getting that bit right and after that the stack memorisation is really quick. And for that I would use a Movie Location / Loci idea. On average my student learn mnemonica in 50 minutes (10 minutes a day for 5 days) - and then it’s solid in their minds.
You’ll find loads of tips on this on this forum and around the web.
Thanks Paul……I think my main problem is just trying to get started !!
Alec, have you made a start? It really is easy when you have a system in place.
POA, Dominic system and Major, all work for me. I know three stacks but this ebook by Jamie D. Grant will be a great help starting out with POA and Mnemonica. You can just use what he suggests and replace which ones you find easier.
