Indexing MP by alphabetizing

Hi,

I recently watched content of Anthony Metivier and him talking about indexing your Memory Palace by alphabetizing it, so for example things related to A is e.g. located in the Apple Store. I have watched and read content, but it is still not clear to me how this works in practice. Could anyone chime in? I am sure there is one clue I am not getting which will make it make sense to me. Specifically, I wonder how people use this system in practice. Suppose I make a sub-route about facts about Argentina. Where in the Apple Store do I go to find my information about Argentina? Do I need to create a journey in the Apple Store that works as an index for the different words starting with A? I hope this question made sense and is not too all over the place. Thanks for reading.

Edit: I am still not quite sure how to organize my “stuff”, whether or not to create a seperate journey for different category (e.g. entrance too house = mathematics, hallway = psychology, etc., and for each of those creating sub-stations, sort of like a table of content) OR if I should alphabetize like Anthony M. suggest, thus eliminating the need for a indexed table of content)

What’s exactly your trouble? What’s becoming tedious or difficult?

You can have a 1000 memory palaces and journeys.
You can create a memory palace to memorize your memory palaces.
You can create a memory palace to memorize your memory palaces that you use to memorize other memory palaces.

An example, not the case: “My head has a castle at the top, you open a door and you walk, not long you’ll see stairs and furniture, each and everything here has meaning to be, the couches and chairs hold houses and the paintings in the wall are cities and everything is a memory palace.”

Choose whatever order you want. Combine, be clever never tedious. Surely memorize with care, not only not everything is needed in your mind but not only not everything is pleasant to hold in mind.

A-Z could be 26 journeys each with ten spots and each spot is a structure where you make journeys or not and memorize whatever you treasure to hold.

My “trouble” is that if I already have made a master memory palace, what happens if I want to add something to it, but it is full, or it becomes cumbersome to add the extra table of content insertion.

But I can of course just continue creating memory palaces and deal with the table of content later when things are clearer. Thanks for your reply.

Perhaps @metivier could have an answer?

That would be very welcome. I have perused his content, but haven’t found any specific info on this, regrettably.

The trick is to have something to memorize and then work with it in a system that you’ve developed.

Let’s say that I want to memorize that in the Lydian mode, the 4th note is sharp. I have Lynne’s place as an MP and instantly she’s in there using a sharp knife to tear up the sails of a sailboat.

That’s the Alphabetical MP in action with other tactics of association. There’s a lot more to be said on the matter, but the clavis magna is taking action on setting up the systems and then using them. Especially with a willingness to not know exactly how it’s all going to work out or how you might use it.

Genchi genbutsu.
