Hello everyone. I am new here and have been practicing memory techniques for a little while now. I have recently learned the major system and I am decent in converting words to numbers. When it comes to the reverse (converting numbers to words) however I tend to take a very long time. It is many times difficult for me to find words that can be useful. So my questions are:
Is there anything one can do to make converting number to words easier?
With practice is it feasible to memorize a long sequence of numbers just by reading it once?
As you said you learned the major system so you don’t need to make numbers to words. You already have preset images for each number from 00-99. So each time you think of 00 you should think of your image. Am I completely misunderstanding your question? I have a major/dominic system for numbers and I can memorize like 172 numbers only reading them once.
That’s the Major system. Having a list is what I think he’s looking for. Knowing that Romeo is 430 is easy. Finding a word for 172 on the fly is harder…
If you have an apple device, google “app store numberthink”
That’s exactly the system I have learned. Romeo is just 43 by the way. Phonetically a zero would make an s, c (as in Cecilia) or a z sound.
As far as the app is concerned I will give it a go. But the thing is would I have to be dependant on it in order to take full advantage of this system?
Is the dominic system mentioned above superior and far more effective? I have never learned it or used it before.
If you create a set of 100 fixed images for 00-99, that should solve the problem. I always use the same images:
20 is always Einstein
21 is always an antelope
22 is always an onion
etc.
I personally like the Dominic System but that’s just my preference. I never really liked the on-the-fly of the Major System so I memorized 100 people doing 100 actions/objects. If you don’t know the Dominic System the same rules apply as the Major…
0-O
1-A
2-B
C, D, E, S, G, H, and N are up to 9. So far I’m up to 400 digits of pi among other things so I know it works for me.
I’ve done my research on the dominic system and it seems very interesting. Since I’ve invested time on the major system I’ll focus on mastering that one. Thanks for the help guys.
I think now it is been very easier due to the technology around we have. I have a found a tool that convert number to words for any word and that make converting process much easier. If you need that tool, here it is numerosaletras. net
