Generate images/escenes faster

Hey what’s up guys,

I recently started this memory journey. All my life I have been learning with rote memorization (I didn’t know better and I was top on my class, so I supposed I was doing everything right). One month ago I discover this world of improving your memory using MP’s and pegs

I’ve found that MP’s are the best thing ever, I can’t believe I have been putting my effort into wrong and completely inefficient learning techniques. I feel so idiot for sticking to rote memorization before and so grateful that I have found that there is a better way to learn.

Due to my short time in this memory world, I want to improve my visualization skills. I notice that I’m generally slow at generating images in conversations or meetings and I tend to create a lot of different images for one thing and often get confused. I was thinking that what I need is to train with deck memorization or number memorization so I can generate images or a story in my mind rapidly (I see those kind of training usually involves time competition).

What do you guys thing I should start with? I’m already studying with numbers asossiating them with images:

I see that you are already looking at the shaper images. These are ready made images that you can use right away. You can basically use any image that makes sense to you that you can associate with. Such as 07 maybe a person as James Bond, or an Axe that looks like and associated from the digits 07. 25 Could be Xmas Tree as it reminds you of Xmas and the xmas tree, etc.

You can also check out the major system which is also very popular with generating images with its sounds. And Dominic system as well if you are going to use Persons in your system.

Once you know your images well for all the digits, you need to work on building some memory palaces. Based on what you are trying to memorise, you’d create your palaces with the locations needed for each.
For example, For “Cards” you’d need 26 locations palace when using a 2 digit PA or OA which is 4 digits or 2 Cards at a time.

All the systems and methods are mostly available on the forum, however the key point here is to improve your imagination as the whole thing happens in your mind. So practice the locations at your palaces mentally, and practice the images you are going to use mentally as well. The rest will be easier. It’s always the training that is the hard part. Memorising becomes a child-play and fun the harder you train your brain.

Thanks @Erol for your answer! and what do you do to "memorize " things if you are in a conversation or meeting? how do you store the info for medium to long term? For conversations with friends I try to use the body of the people I’m around with or the room I’m in for short memory and I use the house of friends to store info long term (advise I took from Anthony Metivier). I still haven’t found how to store info from meetings, I think I will deditate some specific MP’s or pegs for that.

If I want to memorise some key information on the fly, then I use the body method same as you. It is very useful.

You can also use any other object that is in front of you or around you. Such as a Car can be a palace on the fly, a Chair can be one, a desk can be used, an animal such as a Dog can be another. Use whatever you can see to quickly create a few spots on the objects to store the “Key Points/Words” you choose at the time of the conversation.

Another method is to use the surroundings of the location you are at, and use the Chain-Link Pairing Method. So once you choose the Key-Word/s of the conversation, Chain-Link them by pairing them together, and add that to your surroundings. While doing so, you can also use Number shapes to follow the order of the conversation, and to help you make the links.

Here is an example;
Persons name is Gino | Keyword: Bottle Of Gin (o)
He works at the local book-shop | Keyword: Book
He has 2 Daughters | Keywords: Swan + Kids
The live in Minnesota | Keyword: Mini-Soda Drink or a small Can Of Soda

Start with Gino holding a Bottle Of Gin, and Pouring it over a Giant Book as big as him which is next to him. Notice that a magic wand is printed on the cover of the book, this is the number shape for 1. You have paired Two Keywords here.

You then see a big Swan, and on it is 2 kids. Kids picks up the giant book, and Pours a Mini-Soda Can over the book, it’s wet and dripping soda.
Now you have paired the next 2 keywords.

Basically it’s a chain-link in pairs that happens faster than you read this above.

Bottle Gin Poured Over The Book, Kids Pick it up, and Pours a miniature Soda over the book.

The magic wand and the swan represents the order of the links. So you know what was said first and second and so on.

Number shapes can also be used to create links when used with its actions.
Gino is Holding a Magic Wand, and makes a Bottle of Gin appear. This is the action of the magic wand which represent the digit 1. So by using the actions of the number shapes, you can create the links instantly because you’d already know the actions memorised as part of your training.

I have all the number shapes from 00-99, and each of them has an action, they can be pair linked instantly, or be used to memorise info such as conversations, lists, etc. I am actually working towards completing a video tutorial for it in between my other goals which is taking a long time.

@Erol I appretiate that you took your time to explain this.

Blockquote
The magic wand and the swan represents the order of the links.

I didn’t have a structure to put together a story, I would just try to imagine it (in a no linear fashion) and I would usually not retain it afterwards, or not so well. After I read your explaining I can see why I had troubles, I would put stories and conversations into a “void” in my mind, not linking any kind of information.

Thanks again, I can already feel that this will be an awesome and interesting journey.
