I’m mostly doing memory stuff right now, but when I do cube I (badly) use LEOR, which is like ZZ, but you start the solve with a Left Block, and then do EO-line.
This seems a lot like Petrus, is the distinction the fact that the line pieces are solved after the block? Also, how do you do last layer? This method seems interesting.
Yes, this makes it much more ergonomic than Petrus. Also, EO and the line can (and should) be combined, though I’m pretty bad at that portion right now. It’s a really fun step though as you learn EO recognition from a more general angle than you need to for ZZ, and while there are some algorithms available, they’re all really intuitive edge flipping triggers.
Working on COLL, but OCLL and then either PLL (if I know the case), or CPLL/EPLL is what it mostly end up as. Once I get my memory system filled out (timeline maybe six months for enough to be filled out I can start using it reasonably) I’d like to give it a field test by using it to memorize ZBLL.
I have been cubing since 2008, and speedcubing since 2013. I do all 17 events in the WCA.
I average 10 seconds on the 3x3 and about 25 seconds in 3x3 Blindfolded.
Could someone explain more on how to memorize Algorithms?
The method I am working on now is to to take R, L, F, B, U, D and also Slices and rotations and 1st: turning them into consonants: R L F B T (top) D. Second for every type of rotation ex: R, R’, R2, R2’ r, r’ I am attempting to turn them into vowel sounds according to the IPA chart. I don’t have an IPA keyboard but phonetically it could look something like R U R’ U R U2 R’ = Ra Ta Re Ta Ra To Re.
If anyone has any ideas on how I can create more diversity in sounds for easier image associations for Loci, please let me know!
I have yet to crack an efficent method for solving, without too many loci.
I have tried method only in to memorize OLL of 3×3 Rubik’s cube.
But instead of sound, first I chunk the algorithm into smaller pieces (not so small)
then I find triggers like RUR’U’ , RU2, R2U2, R’U2… and so on.
I named these triggers in the name of objects.
After that when I get the bunch of triggers in the form of objects , I linked them all together and put that on the OLL (I imagine some objects in oll) of Rubik’s cube.
awesome. I’ve tried making use of the sexy move, sledge hammer, hedge slammer, ect but all the forward, backward, and mirrored movements confused me too much. Maybe I’ll just create the triggers as I jump in and find the ones that are most useful to me. btw, the algs in parenthesis are always a type of trigger, correct?
yeah sort of, but you can make different triggers as well. Just don’t think there is paranthesis.
going with paranthesis is good as well. It all depends on you.
well, this topic is related to blindfolded speedcubing.
In blindfolding I don’t use any triggers something. I just moved the pieces in my to mind to it’s set-up position, and home location by touching the pieces.
The algs in parenthesis are not always a type of trigger. It is not necessary.
Let me state in a more clearer way. It is just one string of moves that forms a part of the commutator.
Trigger in the speedcubing community is loosely known as a move sequence which is quite common and found as a pattern in common algorithms. So, the part of the commutator need not necessarily be a trigger.
