What technique for remembering a mix of letters and numbers

Hello,
I’m a newbie and getting started.
I tried searching but couldn’t find the answer, sorry if I missed it.

What technque is recommended for a mix of letters and numbers?
For instance my passport number has the format LLDLLLDD where L is a letter and D a digit.
Also passwords (at shared accounts at the company that I can’t change) often have a format like this.
The Major System and PAO are both geared for numbers, how do you solve this?

Hello Hans,

I use an animal alphabet for letters and the major system for numbers. Also, if it’s a common pattern I use specific loci in a journey for letters. For instance, in memorizing the American dollar serial numbers I use the first loci and the last loc just for letters. Then the 4 loci inbetween are for numbers. But that’s not necessary. The animals stand out for me.
