Hi guys. first of all : I don’t speaking english so… sorry for some words I mistake
I’m 19 years old and I’m start training my brain . by technique from a book " Moonwalking with Einstein " and this is first technique(Memory place ) and first time I’m try to power up my brain… actually I worry about many things … like " it’s working?.. what is the best way to training daily ? … and how I can be faster on this technique ? or Is this best technique? … How long I should training? … and shortly " WHAT’S YOUR IDEA ABOUT HOW I CAN START TRAIN MY BRAIN ? " … Thanks for your time.
One resource to train daily is the following website. Select Free Training for competition format.
Welcome to the site! ![]()
Check out the how to learn memory techniques page if you haven’t seen it.
Thanks! that was really great! I just read one of them technique (alphabet peg ) and it’s great …
sorry can I ask I must use and train one of them ? or I can use all without any problem in learning?
Thanks a lot!
I think it’s useful to know about all the techniques in the ebook, but you don’t have to learn all of them before you start practicing.
Hi Zero!
I just recently finished reading Moonwalking with Einstein as well, and ended up coming to this site. It’s great so far ![]()
I was wondering if you’d like to just chat like on Fridays weekly or something where we can discuss where we are at with the memory techniques to keep each other motivated and to see if we actually keep up with the training.
I am 21, from Italy, and I started off placing the animals (I changed them up a bit) from the free E-book into a memory palace. And learning the 10 numbers associated with images. I will soon start creating a set of images for the Major system (from 00 to 99) that I found here. - in step 7
How are you doing with your training?
PS.: Where are you from if English is not your native language ![]()
Hi Pier. Such a good felling next to the your message to me !!! it’s could be really good to talk together about our training .
I very looking for this ![]()
I’m doing training with major system ( I set letters for numbers 1 = t/d and then I make new words with numbers ) and today I read about alphabet peg technique from FREE E-book . and I try that for memorize up to 26 words but I don’t sure it’s been best way I just try that techniques to find best technique .
and I try to learn about how I can create better images or mindplaces … shortly I’m new to this major ![]()
and I’m from Iran and ( my native language is Persian ) I learning English .
(: Thanks for your message!
Hi, Zero.un! I have no practice in english speaking too.
I’m 18 years old. I started to use memory technics one year ago.
And here are my thoughts:
Memory Palace is working very good. If I remember correctly, majority of memory world records for memorising sequences of information was set using the Memory Palace technique. So i think it is the best technique for memorising sequences or lists of information.
If you don’t need to memorise the order of information(like for names or historical dates) you don’t need to use memory palace. Although for these types of information memory palace can be useful to review memorised information without rereading sources or anki cards.
I think the basic types of information for memory techniques are
- easy associative information (images and words);
- not so associative information (abstract images, international names, words of foreign languages, concepts and ideas);
- information with limited set of elements (10 digits, 52 cards, 7 days of the week, 12 month, 4 arithmetic operations, etc.);
- combinations of them (a table, a book, a list of daily tasks, a complex list of things to buy…).
The fastest type of information is 3rd type. It’s because you can create an image for each element and practise recognition of it. So you will be able to convert each element into image in half a second.
To be faster with Memory Palace you can practice numbers or cards with it for the beginning. And after that you will faster and easier use Memory Palace for other types of information.
- Create 10 images or 100 images for numbers with Major system or another system or just come up with random images that you like.
- Then practice to recognise each image around a second or even 0,7 second.
- Create some Memory Palaces and train to comfortably go through them.
- Start to memorise sequences of numbers in 1 minute or 5 minutes.
- Regularly try higher speed, than before.
For daily training it is good to choose one type of information and practice it for a few days trying different speed, different recall and different number of images per location.
It might be effective to do a safe slow speed attempt with perfect recall and a high speed attempt trying to be faster than ever before, but with many mistakes, on every training day.
Then you can choose another type of information and practice only it. And so on.
You can practice while you have free time and good mood for it. Maybe 20 minutes a day for beginning and then you can increase the time slowly up to 3 or 5 hours if you will like it. When your concentration become worse you should take a rest. It is good to take small breaks before each memorisation attempt. Each Memory Palace can be used once or twice a day. If you use all your palaces in one sitting you will not be able to practice the technique until the next day. So the more you want to practice, the bigger is the minimum amount of memory palaces. I am lazy to create more memory palaces so every day i have no palaces to use after 5 attempts. Don’t be like me:)
On the brain training roadmap you should try to memorise very fast for 1 minute and memorise very safely for 30 minutes or hour, that will be challenging for your concentration.
You should learn to create images for memorising anything: faces, foreign words, abstract images, scientific definitions, concepts and ideas from books.
Brain training isn’t only memorisation.
The roadmap can include learning other skills: speed reading, speed calculation, foreign languages, meditation to improve concentration; or skills, that include finger coordination: speed typing, speedsolving rubik’s cube, memorising rubik’s cube, penspinning and cardistry. Learning any new skill will be good for your brain.
Good luck!
Hello my friend. I can’t say anything about your favor to me.
I will definitely use them … and just thanks !!! ![]()
just one thing I am not sure about it : In major system I must to create a Fixed image for ever? like for 15 = 1 : T | 5 : L = Troll(meme) and always use this?
or better to create a different Image for Every time ? Like once TROLL and another time use Talent… IN book I read we can create different images …but I think its easier to create a fixed image and use for all time… like 1 = T = Train …and Combination that with another number image and again I have a new Fixes image for Two digit number for example 19 = Train doing something
sorry i explain to much …it’s about my language . just I want to tell my Idea clear . If you like tell me how you use major system !
thanks to your time my friend .
You are welcome ![]()
You should create fixed image for ever.
But sometimes you can change some images, that don’t work quite well, practice new images and again use them forever.
In memorising numbers or rubik’s cube it always much easier, when you remember image automatically instead of creating it each time.
Thanks(:
can I ask about your record for memorizing numbers?
My records are
80 digits in 47 seconds,
178 digits in 3 minutes,
260 digits in 15 minutes.
On competition i memorised 132 digits in 5 minutes
and 42 spoken digits(1 digit per second).
Great! You motivated me

Wish you the best .
thank you!
Roadmap is something nice to have I believe. I always start something and never been able to stick to one process or method … I get overwhelmed with information and feel like I should change what I m doing … what @dmitriyRubikscube mentioned is really nice to follow. I will follow this and see how I go
