What is "flash memory"?

I saw it mentioned on the net once, but didn’t have the time to read about it, and the next time I looked for it, I could not find it.

It’s not the flash memory connected to computers, but something with the human memory.

Can anyone enlighten me?

I’ve never heard of that. It might be jargon that someone made up in order to repackage an old idea and sell it.

I’m assuming it refers to whenever you randomly remember something, or make a connection you haven’t made before.

You are probably talking about Ramon Campaya
Here is his website
http://www.ramoncampayo.com/5.html
His world records

17 digits in .5 sec
48 digits in 1 sec
96 digits in 4 sec

Quite Amazing!

He also claims to be able to memorize 23,200 words in 72 hours after hearing each only once!

Key word: “claims”

Ray might be right, it could refer to just seeing something for a flash and remembering it, like Ramon with his 20 ish binary digits in a second.

Actually, it was on Harry Lorayne’s site or somewhere where he talked about memory. But since I asked him and he did not recognise it, I felt kind of stupid, so I thought I would ask here if someone had seen it somewhere.

in cognitive psychology the term “flashbulb” memory refers to an extremely strong memory that gets formed relatively quickly. i suppose it is always episodic (i think?), i.e. relating to a specific episode of your own personal life. for example if you see a really significant news story (e.g. 9/11) on TV you might remember exactly where you were, who you were with and what you were doing at that specific point in time.

that’s a flashbulb memory, so maybe that’s what you heard? otherwise i have absolutely no idea what else a “flash” memory could be.

or maybe you mean the memory on your USB flash drive :stuck_out_tongue:
