Maybe its not the best place to put this question, but its related to productivity so here goes nothing. What does a productivity coach do?
In 1 hour sessions do they give out advice like drinking 2 more liters of water. Create lists A, B, C, A being the most important, C being the least important, and give out information like that?
How do you work and get it done with less stress? Certain morning rituals that will make you perform better at work?
I don’t really know—as I’m not a productivity coach and I’ve never consulted one—but I would expect them to give tailored advice specific to me (or to you).
For example, imagine that this week I tried doing X to get more done. But it didn’t work because I had lots of important interruptions. So they could advise me something to try in case that happens.
They could also function as an accountability coach. You could have a weekly (or daily) meeting to state your priorities and check that you worked towards last week’s / yesterday’s priorities.
Ok, so give them some advice like setting small goals like reading 5 pages a day and next week move up to 10 pages a day.
I always wanted to write a book, but i`ve never had the time how to integrate some of that book writing in a day.
OR you are doing x number of things. If you do drink this brain shake which has blueberries and dark chocolate your brain power will increase, but it will give X+10% more energy to get more stuff done.
A lot of it boils down to framing effects. Having “skin in the game” helps a lot of people strive to seek a return on their investment. This is why many people get great results from having coaches that are not experts in their field.
Sometimes you can blend the two with great results, if you can find a topic expert that has time for coaching.
Mentorship sometimes has this effect too, though usually a mentor worth having will make sure you’re appropriately invested.
As for morning rituals, there are interesting research papers on this, some showing that personal experimentation is the key. There are perfectly good afternoon and evening ritual options for all kinds of people.
It comes back to framing.
Confucius was good on this and showing how it’s important for just about everyone:
“Poor, yet delighting in the way
Rich, yet a student of ritual”
He and oodles of others have put their coaching in books, many “free” to read. The question is… who will read and put the ideas into practice without some kind of investment in time, energy, focus, etc.?
Yeah, I`ve compiled a list of courses (which I got for free), some books, and so on. It’s at least 100 hours of material.
What Im hoping its enough to create productivity coaching programs that are 12 hours long and are tailored to each individual to make them more efficient. There are a lot of people out there doing it, and I can do it too.
I have a mental illness and when employers see they don`t hire me, so I need to strive in the online environment where no one knows and make stuff work.
I truly hope that people aren`t going to ghost me just because I want to learn more about productivity and then sell that knowledge. I need money as much as the next guy.
And I cant do any kind of work due to my mental illness. Im not joking with this or trying to manipulate people in some sick way. I just need to be able to earn a living.
