Wang Feng's System: "I don't need a pen any more"

Wang Feng explains a little bit about his mnemonic system. (English narration)

His system doesn’t seem special based on what he said. In Chinese, it’s a lot easier to pronounce numbers however. But the system doesn’t really matter, they’re all based on the same principles. Abstract → Visual → Store in places

He himself, especially since this video was in 2011-2012, does seem like he is in a whole another level. A whole 'nother league. Perhaps it’s the tone of the narrator, but Wang Feng sounded like he was speaking casually; then I started traveling with my teacher, competing in some memory competitions, (at some point) won the world memory championships, then just continued speaking normally. “Won the world memory championships”, spoken like; no big deal, just another little tournament…

Can anyone tell me how Wang Feng treats picture cards in his system?

This is my guess: He uses a similar sounding word (that doesnt conflict with the phonetic sounds as the numbers) to replace J,Q and K. E.g. J can be ‘jiu’/‘jia’/‘jiao’/…, Q can be ‘qiu’/‘qiao’/…, and K can be ‘kuai’/‘kai’/…

Thanks zero. If that is the case it is very interesting. His use of visual clues from the cards makes most sense to me for card recollection.
