Check out on the forum “how to become a walking encyclopaedia” it’s a memory technique to memorise a 1000 page textbook word for word verbatim
And why do you need to memorize verbatim if it’s the talking points and ideas that matter?
Exactly so.
Hey @smith.francis, I’m still looking for any evidence that your system works by memorizing a few words on Memory League and showing us the results. That was June 2022. Still waiting.
What’s this I give you guys a new memory system and you call me a bot and a troll
The finding is that it’s a completely new way of writing a book that makes it easier to use visual imagery and mnonics
And yes once I can find a programmer to program it into a character position counter it can be used more efficiently
How many books have you memorized so far?
Counting characters is a trivial task in modern software systems - usually it comes packaged as a built in property of the string.
Why not use your system to memorize a book on Javascript and write it yourself?
It would be a really really simple task to prove your system is legitimate.
Record a video of you clearly reciting a few dozen pages of a book you’ve memorized verbatim. Ideally this would be a well known book that is in the public domain so that anyone interested can call it up and follow along with your recital.
Shoot the video in such a way that it’s obvious you aren’t reading from some sort of prompting device and that you don’t have any aids of any sort on your person. Maybe wearing a blindfold, along with video proof that it’s opaque. Obviously the video should contain no edits as that would be very suspicious.
This should be a very easy thing that you can do any time with a phone that can take video and a free YouTube account, and would all but silence any doubters. You could even use the Livestream feature of YouTube or Twitch to further show that it was all done at once and no editing cheats were used.
Bonus points if you document your process from the start of learning a new book. Describe what you are doing as you are doing it. Show your work. In video form would be ideal and it would be really interesting for people to be able follow along, learn about the technique in realtime with you, and then ultimately see the payoff as you demonstrate how you do your flawless recall.
Start a new thread in the training journals section of the forum, describe each learning session in detail, and post the related videos there.
You’ve made some very bold claims about your capabilities and the efficacy of your technique, but until you provide something tangible in the way of actual evidence like the type outlined above that your system is viable and gets the results you describe, there is no reason to accept those claims.
The burden of proof is on you, so get to it!
I wish you could see the claims are true because it’s really clear as day that this is a method of transforming pages of a book into 1 page a character position counter. But yes I must demonstrate which is the work waiting to be done
Eagerly awaiting the video series. Let us know when it’s up.
A lucid explanation of the method itself would be useful.
@topG, that was linked to here and I followed up with a transcript of the video. Most of these comments are not pertinent to the topic on acing exams and should be continued on those previous topics IMHO.
Doug
Sorry guys for the poor presentation. It’s a hard technique to describe
The exams usually test the material in the textbooks. So if you can recall the textbook 100% word for word verbatim
I split the comments above into a new thread, because it’s veering off-topic from the original thread.
Even if you can’t describe the technique easily, it would help if you could post a demonstration video here in this thread. Memorizing verbatim-text is pretty difficult and time consuming, so most people will be skeptical until they see someone demonstrate the results.
My schedule is pretty tough and I don’t know if I can perform the technique. I’m wondering if it’s possible for someone who has seen this forum could perform the technique for us. Abit of teamwork to bring the technique alive?
But yeah someone will have to program or pay a programmer to program a character position counter that looks like the grid I posted in the video
But yeah I will definitely attempt to perform the technique myself because it’s an amazing discovery of mine and perhaps others. But yeah I don’t know when I’ll be able to do it
I’ve been trying to see if Alex Mullen is up for the challenge. I went to his webpage and messaged him. So I’m waiting for an email
So yeah that’s the latest news on the technique
And yeah the technique doesn’t have an official name yet
Do you just need a number under each character that indicates it’s position?
Yes. But it needs to be formatted like the counting grid I’ve shown in the videol
We’ll wait until you’re ready. No rush.
Memorizing verbatim is of little value in most exams. There is a place for verbatim memorization but exams usually require comprehension of the subject.
Passing exams, performing well in job interviews, applying knowledge with understanding in novel ways, adapting that understanding to succeed in new situations… All are areas where verbatim memorization usually won’t be the deciding factor for success or failure.
Acting, script memorization, music/lyrical studies, poetry recitation and enjoyment, religious study… these are areas where it might be cool to apply that potential skill.
