Using a lukasa to represent historical figures - your thoughts

Lovely bit of mnemonic thinking. Using the tactile direction as you engage with it will make this even mroe effective because of the direction you will have to move your hand.

Love Robin. Love the fact that you are learning so much. Not sure how much I love the fact that you probably won’t need the lukasa once you are done. It is much too gorgeous not to need.

I am going to make one like this. As soon as I can get to the beach, I will copy you. Your journey, pun intended, is so intriguing.

I suspect you’ll find a richer harvest on your beaches than I have on these cold northern coastlines. Initially I thought about buying dozens of different types of beads on Amazon, but it seemed like a waste when I could forage for items locally.

One has to be careful not to hurt one’s back - bending down several hundred times puts a lot of stress on the lumbar region.

I get all my beads from the animal welfare op shop (opportunity shop / charity shop) that I volunteer at. We get lots of broken and unsaleable jewellery, and it is put aside for me rather than thrown out. All op shops have cheap jewellery. Many women (and men - mustn’t be sexist!) have old jewellery in a bottom drawer. I get so much that I can run lukasa workshops without having to ever buy beads.

I used to only put out the beads, but then I started putting out all sorts of odds and sods that ended up in the jar at the op shop - things like tassels, bracelet charms, short chains … and they have become hugely popular.

But I want to do shells like you have!
