Too easy guinness world record

its an entertaining feat, but i thought guinness have highest standarts, i know that many people can break it easially, by seeing this, guinness lost completely their reputation and respect from me. : Most decimal places of Pi recalled in one minute | Guinness World Records

I’m confused, does it say the record is 280? That’s nearly five numbers a second. That’s pretty great and not “too easy”. I’d say if you feel you can do better then contact them and try it yourself.

its great, but this speed is something many people can do better, this why i am shocked that its guinness records, because i thought they have higher standarts, I belive i can break it, but i don’t want to try, because this record doesn’t interest me, i am disspointed also from the low standarts (in my openion) of guinness

Guiness world records relies on people doing the record under their official watch. If you’re not going to try it because it doesn’t interest you, maybe others who believe they can do better haven’t bothered to contact them and do it.It’s because of their high standards that they may not always have the highest record - those who participate must contact them, then perform under their vigilance, you can’t just film it on a camcorder sitting in the living room while the TV is blaring in the background. The higher the standards of a test, the lower the record may often be, because they don’t accept anything and everything in their books.

Also, if you believe you can but can’t be interested in trying it, I don’t see the point complaining about it. I saw a record once for the highest number of snails on someone’s face, (28), and at the time had nearly 300 snails as pets so thought I’d easily break that. But I didn’t follow through because I honestly couldn’t be bothered. If I can’t be bothered then maybe others who could easily break the record couldn’t be bothered, and then why would they be in the Guiness book of records? You don’t get the record for thinking you can do it, you get the record for actually doing it.

It’s possibly worth mentioning that the feat is to recall the numbers, rather than memorizing them. Presumably the kid had several hundreds digits of pi in memory prior to the test.

So the actual test, I presume, was a test of dexterity, i.e. how many digits can he legibly output in a minute. 280 in a minute is impressive. Not really a memory test, but impressive for different reasons.
