In case anybody is interested, I am providing a link to my Google sheet with chemistry mnemonics. It is still a work in progress, but some of the main pieces are in place.
Here is the link:
I already have mnemonics for the periodic table, but wanted to redo it to make a PAO + L + T version. So, each element would have a character associated with it, but also an Action, Object and a Location.
Finally, there is also a mnemonic Token to represent the symbol (initials) for each element.
As I said, it is a work in progress. An assignment has been made for each Person peg and for each Token. Progress has been made on the Actions and Objects, but a lot more work is needed. Not sure when I will finish. Also, I may feel the need to change some of the existing assignments. In some cases, I was not really happy with the choices, but didn’t have a good alternative right away.
Why PAO + L + T?
The main reason was that I realized that a lot of time we see elements mentioned in situations, such as formulae, in which there are multiple elements being referenced. And, sometimes the same element gets referenced more than once in a given context. It seems to me that having a more more complex solution might be of value for people who want to expand their chemistry knowledge. Hopefully, we learn whether anybody finds this approach useful.
You may also note that there is another tab. My intent was to gradually assemble more mnemonic tools–for one thing, to help with the complex vocabulary of chemistry. I will get to it when (and if) I get to it.
Anyway, this is available for anybody who wishes to copy any part of it.
Regards,
Darn
