I am having problems working out how the scoring works for speedcards at competitions.
I believe the formula is 11180/ time x power 0.75
As I am no mathematician could somebody show me the workings and score for a time of, say, 120 seconds?

The new formula is: 10843 / Time ^ 0.75
In excel the formula is =10843/(POWER(Time,0.75))
It’s still 11180/time^0.75 - giving a 1000-point standard of 25 seconds. They were going to change it to 24 seconds, but then didn’t - possibly it’ll be changed this year, depending what they’ve decided the rules for standard changes are at the moment 
You can also type it into Excel as =11180/Time^0.75
Sample scores for times:
25 sec = 1000
30 sec = 872
45 sec = 643
60 sec = 519
90 sec = 383
120 sec = 308
180 sec = 228
300 sec = 155

When it says that one hour cards have a calculation factor of 0.6410, does that mean that 10 decks would give 333 points? (520 cards * 0.6410)
And 1000 numbers in one hour would be 455 points? (1000 * 0.4545)
I checked papers at one competition, but didn’t see how Phil did the score calculation.
Yes, that’s about right, but rather than using ‘conversion factors’, it makes more sense to just take the 1000-point standard and do Standard divided by Score times 1000.
The only ones with weird calculations are speed cards and spoken numbers, which is 70 * sqrt(Score).
Thanks… I never knew what “millennium” was about. I thought it had something to do with the year 2000 (new standards?). Now it makes sense.

Since I just started about a week ago and my pb at the moment is about 10 minutes, my guess is those sample scores will suffice for now…
One other question.
In how many other pursuits/hobbies/sports/professions could a complete newcomer ask a question and receive a reply from a multiple world champion?

It makes your jaw drop doesn’t it? I know the feeling. He was the one to answer one of the first memory questions that I have ever asked in an online memory forum. This multiple world memory champion can definitely make a good first impression. I’m all for the Double Grandmaster Award!

Seriously, anything I can do to encourage newcomers to get interested in these competitions, the more fun they’ll be for me and everyone else! When memory sports gets so big that I’m flooded with fan mail, then maybe I won’t have so much time to post on forums…
