Song lyrics as pegs?

I’m reading Joe Reddington’s book ( “Advanced Memory Palaces”) at the moment and I’m intrigued by the idea he suggests of using familiar song lyrics as pegs.

It seems a great idea in principle but, when I’ve thought about songs to use, not easy to find familiar lyrics with sufficient nouns/objects to be that useful. Nursery rhymes (one of the examples he gives) appear to be better suited to this.

Has anyone had much success with this if you’ve tried it?

Not only can you use song lyrics as peg words but you could also use the LP’s track listings (i.e. name of songs on the record) as memory pegs too.

I have a sound bite of a song attached to all my actions and love it.

I often change the default lyrics to match the action.

I will also change the lyrics often based on which object and person appears with the action.

Excellent idea, thanks

I would be interested in a couple of examples of such sound pegs you are using in your PAO system for actions. I would be happy if you can elaborate on this a little more?

I use them a lot more infrequently than I originally thought I would but I do use them.

I have a playlist in iTunes that each song only plays for the sound bite.

I sing the sound bite in my head during the scene. Some I use 100% of the time like Hilary Duff Rain and others I use a lot more sparingly or not at all.

For maybe 5/100 actions the sound peg is actually stronger than the core image so I actually inject Hilary Duff into a lot of my scenes or have the person singing Hilary Duff karaoke and she is more important than the rainstorm.

My action for 42=Rain is now essentially Hilary Duff singing Let the rain fall down moreso than actual rainstorms.

For most of my actions though the image is much stronger than the song and I often won’t sing any song at all while encoding.

So if I understand you correctly, the song byte is merely an enhancer to your PAO scenes that you create. I was thinking you were using the song byte as a broadening to your PAO System and changing it into a PAOS system which would give you an 8 digit number at each loci.

Yes this is how it works. I have 6 digits per loci and just have some enhancers that are strictly associated with a specific object, person or action that I can use optionally.

Thank you for sharing your song byte lists. It’s got me thinking whether I could use something similar for my PAO lists
