Pornography addiction can have a significant impact on memory retention due to its effects on the brain’s reward system. Research has shown that pornography use can alter the structure and function of the brain, particularly in the prefrontal cortex and limbic system, which are responsible for decision-making, impulse control, and emotional regulation. Studies have also found that pornography addiction can lead to a decrease in gray matter volume in these areas, which can result in reduced cognitive function, including memory retention. Furthermore, the constant novelty and hyperstimulation associated with pornography use can make it difficult for the brain to form long-term memories, as it becomes desensitized to pleasure and reward. In short, it is impossible to have optimal memory retention while struggling with pornography addiction. It is crucial for individuals who are struggling with this addiction to seek professional help in order to overcome it and regain control of their lives.
I’m still studying about the subject, so if anyone disagrees with something, feel free to debate.

There is a good TedX talk on this which I tried to post a couple months ago but I was told this is for children friendly site and the mods removed it
But yes avoid things which we did not evolve millions of years with is a good thing. TV/Phone, esp things which excite and activate the brain. Also look at TedX talks
I really appreciate the summarised evidence presented for burning matters like this. Although we discuss about it so less, its quite a significant problem.
The core problem not being in the existence of the addiction only, the spectrum of changes it brings about in people for usage of mobile devices is increasing year by year with a significant spike in the COVID era. From cognition affection and poor reward systems, i have myself experienced challenges in remembering very intriguing stuff despite being able to comprehend it much better than my peers.
I agree that issues like stress, poor nutrition, and addiction—whether to substances or behaviors like pornography—can deeply affect memory and overall brain health. The impact on dopamine and the brain’s reward system is significant, and finding ways to regain balance is key to improving cognitive function.
For me, managing stress and avoiding overstimulation have been game-changers in staying focused and improving memory retention. Sometimes, taking a break and doing something relaxing, like using Crave Max Beast, helps me clear my mind and refocus on what matters.
