I have a 0-99 PAO loaded into a memory palace.
I’m also learning Latin and want to remember the rather long words representing numbers, such as “duodēvīgintī” for 18.
Does it make sense to take my existing 0-99 PAO and add in the Latin numbers there, — each number tacked on after person or object — or does it make more sense to start from scratch in a new palace?
You can use a memory palace for different things. In fact it’s the most efficient way to use it!
Your brain knows you’re looking at it through the PAO lens, or the Latin lens, the History lens, etc.
Hi Hari, I am always interested about this. Do you hold multiple long term datasets in a single palace and, if so, when you see them in your minds eye do you only see the one set of data that you have “lensed in” on or are they all there in some way? And do you think this adds to the cognitive effort?
They are all there, my mind “homes in” to what I want (“I’m searching what happened in 116BC” > brains looks for “history thing” at the station 116).
Only if I hesitate then it provides the other elements I have saved there, which can give a supplementary hint actually. So I see it more as a help than a hindrance.
Because you understand the information you’re learning you’re not going to mix things up. If I remember at the station 116: Livermonium / 夢 / death of Ptolemy 8, I’m not going to believe Ptolemy is a chemical element and 夢 an Egyptian King. But I may remember that Ptolemy died dreaming in Japanese which helps me remember that 夢=dream.
