Welcome to Season 26!

There are 5 divisions:

  • Division 1 (8 competitors)
  • Division 2 (12 competitors)
  • Division 3 (16 competitors)
  • Division 4 (17 competitors)
  • Division 5 (48 competitors)

In divisions 2-5, each competitor will play 6 matches. The pairings have been chosen such that each competitor in the division has a similar variety of opponent skill levels.

In division 1, as there are only 8 competitors, everyone will play everyone else (7 matches each).

Arranging matches

1. Enter your availability

At the top right of the Matches page for your division, you will see an Availability button. Click the button to open the availability table, which shows a row for each hour until the end of the season, with columns for you and each opponent you haven’t played yet. Click the boxes in your column to indicate when you are available to play a match.

2. Schedule matches with your opponents

There are two ways to schedule a match:

  1. On the availability table, if you enter availability that matches one of your opponents, you will be asked whether you want to schedule a match at that time. Just click ā€œYesā€ to schedule the match.
  2. You can also schedule a match by entering the date/time directly into the Schedule field on the Matches page. This allows you to schedule a match that doesn’t begin on the hour, or at a time that your opponent has not indicated they are available.

When you schedule a match, your opponent will receive an email asking them to confirm or cancel. You will be notified by email when your opponent confirms or cancels.

Matches should be confirmed at least 12 hours before the match time where possible. If a match is confirmed later than that, and the original scheduler does not play the match, the match will be rescheduled.

3. Cancelling a match

To cancel a scheduled match, click the red Cancel button on the Matches page. Optionally, enter a reason for the cancellation, which can be seen by your opponent and the league administrators. Your opponent will be notified of the cancellation via email.

If the match was previously confirmed by both players, you will forfeit the match unless you cancel at least 4 hours in advance or provide a reason deemed acceptable by the league administrators.

Playing matches

Note: if you don’t have full access to Memory League, you must keep at least one game available to be able to play a league match. League games don’t count towards the daily limit, but you will not be able to play a match if you have used all your free games for the day.

Choice of events

The competitor whose name appears first has the first choice of event, then the choice alternates.

Challenge your opponent by clicking on their name (for example, in the Scheduled Matches section on the home page), then click Challenge.

Please note:

  • A competitor cannot choose the same event twice.
  • A competitor cannot choose International Names if they have already chosen Names.
  • A competitor cannot choose Names if they have already chosen International Names.

Ending the match

The match ends when one competitor reaches 4 points with a 2-point lead, or when 8 games have been played. Here are all the possible results:

  • 4 - 0
  • 4 - 1
  • 4 - 2
  • 4 - 4
  • 4.5 - 0.5
  • 4.5 - 1.5
  • 4.5 - 2.5
  • 4.5 - 3.5
  • 5 - 3

No-shows

If your opponent arrives between 15 and 30 minutes late for a scheduled match, you can choose to either play the match or take a 4-0 default win.

If your opponent is more than 30 minutes late for a scheduled match, you automatically win 4-0 (unless they have an excuse acceptable to the league administrators, in which case the match will be rescheduled).

Please send me a private message (or use the Contact Us page in Memory League) if your opponent does not show up for a scheduled match.

Videos for Divisions 1 and 2

Recording videos

Competitors in divisions 1 and 2 must record a video of each match, with your head, hands and screen visible.

At the start of the video:

  1. State your name, your opponent’s name, and the date.
  2. Show around the room.
  3. Show your ears, and any ear protection you will use.

Submitting videos

The winner of the match (or both competitors in case of a draw) should submit their video within 3 days of the scheduled match time. Upload the video to YouTube as an unlisted video, and email the link to [email protected].

The loser of the match does not need to submit their video, but they should keep the video until the end of the season in case it is requested by a supervisor.

Late video submissions

If a winning (or drawing) competitor submits their video between 3 and 7 days after the scheduled match time, their points for the match will be adjusted 1 point lower than usual.

If a winning (or drawing) competitor fails to submit their video within 7 days of the scheduled match time, they will score 0 points for the match, with no change to their opponent’s points. If this happens more than once, the competitor will be removed from the season and relegated.

Deadlines

The targets shown below are intended to keep the season moving and on schedule.
Competitors who fall two matches behind any target will be removed from the season, unless they contact the league administrators with an acceptable reason.

Date Target
End of week 1 (2026-03-22T23:59:00Z) 1 match played and/or scheduled
End of week 2 (2026-03-29T23:59:00Z) 2 matches played and/or scheduled
End of week 3 (2026-04-05T23:59:00Z) 3 matches played and/or scheduled
End of week 4 (2026-04-12T23:59:00Z) 4 matches played and/or scheduled
End of week 5 (2026-04-19T23:59:00Z) 5 matches played and/or scheduled
End of week 7 (2026-05-03T23:59:00Z) all matches played

Good luck everyone!

I’m having trouble finding this button.

As shown:

How do I get to that ā€œLeague Seasonsā€ page? I cannot find it.

Sorry, it’s just labelled ā€œLeagueā€ in the navigation bar at the top.

Oh thanks I found it. So my username on here is kyglo but my name on memoryleague is kyro but I cannot change kyro. Will that be an issue?

No problem having different usernames.

Okay awesome, thanks.

Short note: the loser of a match in div. 1 or 2 does not have to upload their video, they only have to keep it locally until the end of the season.

How do I compete? It is about to be 2:00pm and it won’t let me press ā€œchallengeā€?

Hi
I’ve already marked my availability in the table (mostly morning slots), but I don’t see any markings from my opponents yet.

Since I see some people in my division have already played their matches, I’m wondering:

  1. Should I wait for my opponents to mark their options in the table for a match to happen?

  2. Or should I reach out and DM them directly to schedule?

I want to make sure I don’t miss the Week 1 deadline.
Thanks for the help!

Hi @Simon

I’m jumping back in because I’m a bit of a ā€˜keen bean’ and don’t want to miss the Week 1 deadline due to my own technical confusion!

I’ve actually bent my schedule to fit an opponent’s timeline (stretching my brain before the match even starts  ), but I don’t see a green V next to their name in the table. Does this mean the match is officially ā€˜on’, or am I still waiting for a secret signal?

Also, a small mystery: I don’t see any availability marked for my other opponents, yet I see them scheduling matches with others.
Is there a trick to seeing their slots? Do they have some other system to schedule? :woman_detective:

I’m very enthusiastic about my first season and just want to make sure I’m doing everything right. I’d appreciate any guidance

Hi @Ilana-Iz,

Your opponent hasn’t confirmed the match yet. When they confirm:

  1. You will be notified by email
  2. There will be a green tick (āœ“) against their name
  3. The match will appear on the Memory League home page under ā€œScheduled Matchesā€.

You will also be notified by email if your opponent rejects the match time by clicking Cancel. In that case the match time and your green tick will be removed.

It doesn’t look like your other opponents have entered any availability.

Everyone - if you haven’t entered any availability yet, please do so! I think it’s easier than in previous seasons, because there is only one table for the whole season, and you only see the opponents you need to play.

  1. Find your division in the ā€œLeagueā€ pages on Memory League
  2. Click the ā€œMatchesā€ tab to see all the matches in the division
  3. Click the ā€œAvailabilityā€ button near the top right
  4. Enter your availability and try to schedule your first match!

@Oleg_Cherednichenko - could you please make sure that Ekaterina knows what to do, as you registered her name and I don’t know if she has seen the instructions. Thanks!

To all competitors, please be aware of the match deadline rules, published by @Simon in post #1 above at the beginning of the season (the ā€œend of week xā€ is the end of each Sunday, GMT):

"Deadlines

The targets shown below are intended to keep the season moving and on schedule.
Competitors who fall two matches behind any target will be removed from the season, unless they contact the league administrators with an acceptable reason.

End of week 1 (March 22, 2026)
1 match played and/or scheduled

End of week 2 (March 29, 2026)
2 matches played and/or scheduled

End of week 3 (April 5, 2026)
3 matches played and/or scheduled

End of week 4 (April 12, 2026)
4 matches played and/or scheduled

End of week 5 (April 19, 2026)
5 matches played and/or scheduled

End of week 7 (May 3, 2026) All matches played"

To be clear, that means if at the end of this week (29 March) you do neither have a single match played nor scheduled (= confirmed by both sides; the match time itself can also be after the match deadline as long as it has been scheduled before the deadline ends) and do not have an acceptable reason (acc. to my understanding, nothing counts that was foreseeable before the season started), you will be removed from the season.

Hi all in div. 1 and 2, please note the change in video submission deadlines as detailed by Simon Orton in this thread at the start of the season:

  1. First deadline: within 72 hours after the scheduled starting time of the match. If missed: -1 point.

  2. Second deadline: 7 days after the scheduled starting time of the match. If also missed: 0 points. If missed twice (not necessarily in a row): removal from the season and relegation.

  3. For both deadlines:

  • Only winner has to submit video. Loser has to keep video until the end of the season. Draw: both have to submit their video.
  • Points of the opponent remain the same in case of missed deadlines. E.g. if winner misses first deadline, they only get 2 points, loser remains at 0 points. If winner also misses second deadline, they get 0 points, loser remains at 0 points.

Hi
It’s 30 minutes to my first match and I was wondering… How do I actually enter?
Is it through the ā€˜Compete’ tab?

Oh, Ilana. Good you are here. You are still missing sets in your game. 3.5 - 1.5 is not yet over. If you guys don’t finish the game, both of you are getting penalized.

@Ilana-Iz

@NS-AH-Memory

Hello @Ilana-Iz @EduardoEDOG

I thought we were done when I lost 3 to 1.

When are you available for a final game Ilana ?

we can finish the challenge next week or tommorow at the same time.

Keep me posted.
