Ruined System? Pi ghosts into system

Dear reader,

I will first briefly describe how I set up my system and later describe my problem. I would really appreciate your support

System construction

I have been practicing cards with a 1-card PAO system for some time. A few days ago I designed my 2 digit system. The card system is attached to the digit system (numbers from 10 to 40).

I don’t use a major system. I associate the numbers with categories. For example: every 0 (01,02 … 09) belongs to the category “movie legends”. The second digit determines the position in my palace, which I use to save the system. In this palace, each category is in its own room. The second digit takes the same position in each category, in each room. For example 07: first digit 0 = film legends, second digit 7 = bottom left → James Bond (He is in category 0 at Loci position bottom left). The process is pretty similar to this post: PAO Advice I wish I knew before I learned my PAO

So much for my approach. The first successes were very good, after a few days I was able to save 50 digits in 60 seconds. I only created and had to enter the palace for saving the system once (not that detailled as I did for Pi – more on that later).

problem

To get the best profit out of my system, I thought it would be a good idea to also learn Pi on 1000 digits (in addition to my speed runs). I looked for a suitable room that is only there for Pi. I began very slowly and carefully to save the first 100 digits for long-term memory.

During the next “speed run” on memoryleague, I noticed that the PAO combinations of Pi sneak into my „raw system palace“ or ghost it. I immediately stopped memorizing Pi and now I have the problem that there are a few numbers that have a strong connection to wrong P,A or O´s.

An example for my problem: 14 15 92 are the first digits of Pi. If 15 would be Albert Einstein, he would find his place in my mind palace for the system in the 5th position in category 1 (clever minds). There I would find Albert Einstein (P), throwing (A) chalk (O). By also storing Pi in my long-term memory, it happens that I connect the 14 (Stephen Hawkings) to the action of 15. The long-term storage of Pi ghosts itself into my system palace.

Now it happens that I unconsciously and instantly connect people to wrong activities or objects. If the number 33 comes, then it may be that I can sense the correct object of 33 directly, but intuitively and directly associate a wrong person with it (because this combination exists in my Pi storage).

Ever since I discovered the phenomenon, it has been strengthened by the emotional fear of making “wrong connections”. Unconsciously, images often come up from the Pi storage and “nest” like enemies in the wrong position in my system palace.

As I said, I only designed the system and the associated palace a few days ago, so I hope to be able to “forget” the “wrong connections”. But the fact that this ghosting is possible at all, it´s impact shocked me, slows me down and scares me to memorize speed runs. Sometimes I do a round of speed digits and always have the fear in the back of my mind that I will link a number incorrectly. It feels like I conjure the ghosting effect, by fearing it.

This fear and the ghosting phenomenon also mean that I cannot easily forget the “wrong number connections” that were created by pi. Mainly because the Pi Palace was built for my long-term memory and was imagined accordingly in detail.

If a “wrong connection” has been established and ghosting occurs, then the effect is related to the number and also their card. If the person, the action or the object ghosts from 88 to the number 19, then the ghost occurs not only at the number 19 but also at the 9 of hearts (which is the number 19).

the idea that I ruined my system with the pi run means that whenever I think of my system, I immediately see the nested wrong connections - that hampers my progress massively.

Possible solutions?

The whole situation dragged on for a period of less than a week. My system and speed are more important to me than Pi. I think it would be good to take a break and don´t stress myself too much with the idea of taking influence on the process of wrong connections.

I am afraid that the Pi connections come up again and cannot be forgotten and finally become part of my unconscious association process.

I am highly motivated to use my system and make progress – but as I said, the emotional fear of ghosts steals a lot of energy and time. My motivational anchor is the dream of good speed with numbers and cards – and maybe one day I could add a long term Pi run.

Any helpful tip how I can cut the wrong connections and face my system with a clear head is very welcome, I appreciate that. If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them.

Thank you very much for your attention!

Greetings from Freiergeist

It’s an interesting situation.

I can relate to ghost images in personal experience, which is why I’m careful about how I use my imagination.

What I personally do with imagination-related discomfort is to not at all be let down by the situation. There’s always an interesting find, even if there’s some discomfort.

Hey

I should say that I don’t use a PAO system, so I don’t really relate to your problem, or rather I don’t encounter it.

The first thing that comes into my mind is, maybe you didn’t learn your PAO system well enough, or you didn’t let it enough time to sink into your mind. I don’t blame you, I probably would’ve done the same and tried to memorize pi digits shortly after, but I advise you to keep that in mind if one day you re-learn it, or another system.

The pi connections are not a bad thing in themselves, and imho it’s normal to think about a previously made image while creating a new one. Me too, when I have to place a mouse in my mental palace, I think about the previous mouses I placed before. But that doesn’t stop me to think about the right number, it even reinforces it. At least your problem is a proof that these links are deeply ingrained into your mind, and that you know the pi digits very well, so it’s a good thing.

I don’t really wanna say here : “do the same as me, it’s gonna work”, but I feel like the fact that you used a mental palace to learn your system has something to do with the fact that you mix the pi images and the system images. Maybe it would be a good thing to learn your system kinda “the hard way”, without placing it in a physical place. That way you’d know that the PAO images you have in your head, all of them, are not your system’s, and you’d focalise more on the meaning of the P, the A and the O in each image, and not question yourself : “is this image in my PAO system palace or in the pi one ?”,even for a tenth of a second.

But yeah, now that it’s done, I don’t really see a clear solution, just wanted to give some thoughts. I advise you to continue to learn your system, make it even more ingrained that the pi digits. Maybe also, continuing to learn pi digits is not a bad idea, that way Albert Einstein or someone else will have different actions to do with different objects in your pi mental palace, so it will maybe mix things up a little bit, and the “real” system images will reemerge a little bit easier.

That’s all I have to say for now, good luck with it !
Cheers
