I don’t take the BBC too seriously when reporting on science but this is an interesting question.

I saw this article as well. I agree that using lucid dreaming techniques EVERY night almost certainly affects your sleep hygiene negatively.
That being said lucid dreaming is such an amazing human ability that I think it’s worth experiencing occasionally.
It’s like chocolate cake… you probably shouldn’t have it every day. But you definitely shouldn’t NEVER have it hah.
Some valid points about potential increased fatigue due to sleep interruption and the risk of blurring the lines between reality and dream which could be detrimental for those with or highly prone to disassociate disorders. I think I agree that experiencing it in moderation for a reasonably healthy individual would be fine.
I’ve experienced lucid dreaming naturally, it occurs maybe once a year or so. Less as I get older. I would love to explore it a bit, but have other things to get through first!
IMO they make a point but it’s trite and the risk is exaggerated, as news papers are wont to do to tell an interesting story. Common sense tells you you need to get enough sleep.
Yeah. In other news “Water - Wet”
