Hello everyone! What techniques are best for memorizing 100+ random numbers? PS - I forgot my wife’s poutine yesterday and all I had to get was a cheeseburger Happy meal and a poutine. Yep. That’s where I’m at . Ha! I could use some help!
Hi Arfman,
What you’d need to do first is to find and use a;
Number to Image generator.
Once you know what your images are that covers the numbers from 0-9, and perhaps from 00-99, you’d have the images to create your scenes in your mind, and then you’ll be able to recall those images, therefore the number digits.
Because the brain is able remember what it sees with images much easier than the number digits themselves.
In the example of Cheeseburger happy Meal, and a poutine ![]()
you would literally imagine those two images, and create a connection between the two.
Perhaps you’d imagine yourself with the Happy meal served over the counter, and Shout “I am Not Happy” with this, Where is my Poutine?". And notice the staff gets angry with you, and Throwing your Poutine at your Face, and say “Enjoy”.
So imagination is the key, and creating an episode in your imagination is what will make you recall the information later on whenever you wanted to recall.
So it’s the same method to memorise 100+ digits.
You’d have images for each single or a double digit.
You’d imagine those images
You’d create an episode, by Linking those images.
You’d use a location where this episode/scene would happen aka Memory palace.
Popular Number to Image generators are;
The Major System: Phonetic based.
Dominic System: Letter-Person based.
Number Association System: Associated images
Number Shape System: Images that look like the number digits.
Independent System: You decide on the images because it makes sense to you.
So once you choose a system that you like to generate images from, you’d then create a Memory palace, and memorise 100+, or even 1000+ number digits.
That’s how it works in a nutshell ![]()
