I’m using Anki to memorize flashcards made from two images. I encoded the images using an alphanumeric code, and during review I try to decode them back into their original meanings using that code.
My question is: when I successfully decode the images (i.e., I remember what they mean through the alphanumeric code), should I press “Again” or “Good”?
I’m not sure which option better reflects real recall in this kind of image-based system.

If I know the answer without checking the back of a card, I choose Hard, Good, or Easy, depending on how easy it was for to recall it. If I can’t recall it, I usually choose Again, or sometimes Hard or Good if I know the answer but temporarily forgot.
Other people might do it differently.
My baseline is “again” if I failed to remember, “good” if I remembered.
Although if I took so long to remember that it would have made the thing I want to remember unusable in the real life situation it’s supposed to be used, I still press “again” if the “good” button gives me a big interval.
Similar to Hari-P, I always use good even if it is a correct instant recall. The easy response pushes the interval too long, long enough that I’m on the wrong side of the forgetting curve.
