Totally agree with you. I found a pocket size map booklet of New York City in our local 2nd hand Bookshop and thought of purchasing it just to develop memory palaces of the various touristy attractions in NYC. Having never been to the “Big Apple” (It’s on my bucket list though), I was thinking what’s the point of making memory palaces of things I’m unaccustomed too? Just put me in my own domain which happens to be Cape Town and I could rattle of the names of various Wine Estates situated along Stellenbosch’s R44. They are hundreds of Wine Estates in Western Cape (no exaggerations). You couldn’t do them all even if you tried to in your lifetime. Stellenbosch is only a 45 minute commute from where I live on the Southern Peninsula, in my hometown of Simons town (Cape Town). We have here what we locals affectionately call the “Little 5 - Wine Estates” being: Steenberg, Constantia Uitsig, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Groot Constantia (Although there is nothing little about any of them!). I took my grandson to the bike park at Constantia Uitsig today and for the first time ever came up with 20 loci on the Estate.
Posting My Person-Acton-Object-Container-Pet List
I made mine family friendly as I am using this with my kids as well…
Thank you to everyone who shared here. I’m going to read through all of them and look for upgrades to my current list, as there are always a few weak words in the system…

I used resources around here for the Major list, which I am still tweaking. The Ladies and Gentleman alpha characters lists I made with the help of www.thefamouspeople.com.
Since playing games were so significant for my childhood, my 00-99 are actually the first 99 pokemon + missigno and their most memorable move (at least to me). I ofter portray 6 digit numbers as the battle screen as in: attacker - move - defender
I going to be borrowing your #65 Santa’s Elves. I have had Sheena Easton and Sam Elliot in position #65 but I keep forgetting both for some unknown reason. Santa’s Elves - (People) wrapping up - (Action); a Mercedes SE - (Object). The Mercedes SE makes a nice Christmas present to myself and from myself and the SE cues me back to #65 again. So I’m running with your “Santa’s Elves” for my #65 to see if it works any better for me.
Here is mine, I made it 3-4 years ago I think it started as a major system but I replaced it over the years and now its complete rando, but maybe someone pulls some ideas or has feedback!
I set mine up to 176 for bible memorization (There are 176 verses in the longest chapter of the bible, psalm 119) , but didn’t do anything at all for PAO because it wasn’t necessary for how I was using it. I got literal images for each one here, but if you just want the items:
Hi, Just a thought on Psalms 119.
Something I have found that works is to assign a memory palace for each chapter or several memory palaces in the case of 119. I made an arbitrary rule for myself to assign 20 verses to each memory palace in clockwise fashion so that my mind can quickly zoom to the verses’ locations.
Of the various ways I tried to memorize, this has proved to have the least friction.
I use shopping plazas throughout several towns and I simply revisit the stores or use Google Maps to jog my memory while installing the verses.
At the present, I’m not trying to get 100% of the verses, but rather I fill in only the ones that I really want to know. Later, I have the placeholders throughout the memory palace to fill all the other verses in.
I do the same thing for a book like Philippians. There was a vacation home with a lot of rooms and different floors, and it worked perfectly to assign 5 verses at a time to every room/zone.
The whole point is that the mind seems better at storing information in these places and retrieving that information, than most other ways of memorization.
I hope you are enjoying the process of memorization of Psalms.
Mike
This is brilliant thanks! Is there any chance you could make the source file available (assuming Excel) so I can edit to suit my own associations? Thanks.
Hi, Fred2,
I’m started practice pao please let me know how to made image edited, do you use any assistant to make it Or do you make it on yoir own, please suggest some image editing tool, awaiting for your reply .
rather than going over digital tools, I guess you could just use pen and paper since your main goal should be making PAO even if it’s incomplete and jump directly to practice it?
