Pop Song Titles - Encoded into Major System

I got thinking. We have probably all pretty much got ‘pegged down’ (no pun intended) one hundred peg words for #00 - #99 under the Major System’s encoding method. Many of us have expanded our lists under the PAO model if we used ‘People’ to start with. I am thinking as a further embellishment to PAO, we might develop a 00 - 99 peglist with two-word titled pop songs).

I’ll start this process with a two-word titled song that springs readily to mind: #43 = Rocket Man. I would prefer a peg list for songs from 60’s - 80’s just my age-group I’m guessing.

Examples:
#95 = “Baby Love” (the Supremes)
#11 = “Day Tripper” (the Beatles)
#79 = “Get Back” (the Beatles)
#07 = “Sweet Caroline” (Neil Diamond)
#43 = “Rocket Man” (Elton John)

Is such a list possible and secondly is such a list feasible? Please add to the two-worded song titled list I’ve started and add any thoughts you have on the practicality of such a peg list and merits if any?

I don’t use the major system but I do have songs for my 1-100 characters. One song for each character.

i thought maybe this could be a good way to test AI responses. I figured this would be a pretty simple task. I’d just prompt it to “list pop songs from the 80’s or 90’s where the titles are two words. The first word must start with _ and the second word must start with _”

What could go wrong???

Well… Lets just say that the stigma of AI chatbots hallucinating answers was not dispelled by this interaction:

This continued for a couple more attempts before I gave up. Every response it gave contained at least one completely made up title. A couple responses were entirely fake. Even after I gave it specific instructions to never make up answers when responding to this question.

Sigh.

As for the idea… not a bad one, Fred! Sound and music in particular can have very strong associations. It is VERY personal though. A song can have zero resonance with one person while being someone else’s absolute favorite. As an exercise, it’s a fun one to try to find matches via crowdsourcing, but I think for practical use, you’d definitely have to create your own list with songs that matter to you to make it worth using.

Method-wise, keep in mind that Major is a PHONETIC system, not a LETTER system. It’s a bit odd to me to use it to generate initials. I feel like using it this way can dull your ability to use it as a phonetic system, especially if you’re trying to augment an existing system that does use Major as designed, for sounds. The whole idea of major is to NOT focus on the letters, but the sounds they generate. So if one part of your system uses it like that, and another part uses it as letters, this for me would cause problems when trying to build fluency and use it well. If you consistently use Major mapping to simply read them as letters wherever you use it, then I suppose there’s no issue, it would just be like you’re using Dominic but with replacement letter assignments, but I think that loses the main advantage and difference that Major provides.

I have a synaesthetic system that uses sounds, but not a music, but a sound coming from a unique instrument like a drum, violin, guitar, etc., all these sounds are associated to a color like A is red, B is blue, C is green, D is yellow, etc., it is an alphabetic list of 26 letters multiplied by 5 = 130 elements, the sound can provide a strong association, and the speed is with practice, as your brain will look for shortcuts if you put it under speed.

These aren’t entirely “pop” songs but these are some tunes I put together in line with the Dominic System to help learn PAO for 00-99.

There may be one or two (or many songs) you aren’t familiar with so be fairly warned.

In addition, I tried to make it as diverse as possible so there is plenty of different genres to make it interesting. Disciple-Slayer and Catallena-Orange Caramel making a traverse from thrash metal to k-pop because thats what I listen to at the gym when it hits shuffle lol. (Am currently listening to Clint Mansell - Death is the Road to Awe so feel free to make sense of it all lol.) So take whatever suffices. I just Googled the most popular musical acts for 0-N and worked out which ones resonated the most. “O” seemed the trickiest to find songs.

And its not a matter of always liking a song because I think Original Prankster (and a couple of others) are not great songs, but I definitely remember them which is the whole point of the exercise.

I like your list. I did 100 songs too. I added them later, after my 1-100 list of people was firmly established.
