Number of memory palaces for memorising numbers

Hello everyone,

Just starting out with memory training.
I got my 2-digit major system images memorised and have been trying to use it with one memory palace of 10 stations.
When training on the memory league website I keep reusing the same memory palace between consecutive runs and noticed that sometimes the image gets mixed up from previous runs.
I wonder if its because of the weaker associations in the current run. Has anyone experienced this before? Should I create more memory palaces and rotate them between each run on memory league or focus more on developing strong enough associations that will stick on top of the ones from the previous runs.

Yeah usually people have several places and rotate between them to avoid ghosting.
Some simply wait a bit for the old images to fade, others imagine a fire (or something else) destroying and purifying everything, to make it “empty” again.

Thanks

It’s best to not use the same locations back to back as you may have “ghost images” so your scores may gone down. However, for the propose of practice, increasing encoding speed and traveling the MP I think it’s fine to use the same locations again and again. But be aware your scores may decrease.

Personally I have 7 MPs I only use for numbers and that allows to give each MP 24-48 hrs rest before reuse which is ideal.

But 7 is a lot I recommend having 3 to start.

Thank you everyone. Rotating memory palaces has made a perceivable difference in my recall!
