That makes 2 of us. After some trials and errors and hard thinking I have come (at least I think) to a better understanding of how to do this. Two concepts seem of great importance in this light.
distinguishable variation
The elephant (19) in my example is placed on a diagonal (from bottom left to upper right). Likewise spiderman may represent number 91 hanging up side down in the upper right corner and shooting a web to the lower left corner. You may think that 29 should also be translated as a diagonal (like 19 but different angle), but I believe this to be a big mistake because it simply is not distuinguishable enough. It would be better in my view to translate 29 as a warped wall (like in the ninja obstacles TV-hows) and likewise for 27 (see the symmetry paragraph below). A good objects representing 29 (or 27) may therefore be a ninja (running up the warped wall) or a stunt motorcyclist (riding up the warped wall); likewise but going down the warped wall … 72/92 = a skateboarder or a teenager in a shopping cart going downhill (we used to do that, because there was no internet).
symmetry
One of the mistakes I have made when using a system like the “The Shaper System” → Number Shapes - 00 - 99 - Anyone Using It? is that I would “translate” a certain digit as the same (part of) an object for some 2 digit combinations with that number, but something completely different for other combinations.
So for example the “8” would often be a humanoid shape (38 = robot, 18 = pole vaulter, 28 a fisherman, but also 48 = a sandtruck doing a wheelie).
Going back to the number keyboard method, we see that I placed the banana (39) on the outside of the square (and therefore 17, 71, 79, 97, 93, 13 and 31 should be placed outside), but the giraf (17) was placed inside the square. That is a violation of symmetry, that may cause confusion. On top of that it makes it more difficult to distinguish between for example 17 and 28; the giraf would probably be better used as representing number 28.
But what about 2 digit numbers with “0”?
Some of you may have already questioned what on earth are we supposed to do with 2 digit numbers with “0”. On my computer at work (at home I have a laptop without a square number keyboard) the “0” key is underneath the “nine numbers” square. This positioning in my opinion will not be very usefull for this system. I propose a more flexible approach; the location of “o” is always outside the square but it depends on the number combination. Again, distuinguisable variation and sysmmetry need to be respected.
Some examples of “o” combinations:
01 = a rhino hitting the lower left corner of the square;
03 = a big hamer hitting the lower right corner;
70 = a spear shooting out of the upper left corner of the square;
30 = a dolphin escaping the square underwater prison and shooting into the freedom of the ocean.
