Yesterday we finished the Scandinavian memory league championship ! We had 2 categories ( offline and online) and let’s congrats to vishvaa winning the online championship and Tommy Harrison for offline competition!
But I wanted to make a suggestion!
Why we don’t have next memory league world championship offline ? That will make it more exciting and better !?
To be honest when I saw pictures for the Scandinavian competition offline I felt exciting for get world championship offline ! And this is already what it was before !
Of course the online is more comfortable because some players can not travel if it’s offline !
But the offline competition will be more exciting !
So what do you think guys who are in top ranking of memory league ??
Yeah Naser, that’s a nice thought, maybe if we all take a step to make it happen we can normalise Offline ML Championship like we do the Classic format, So I hope it should happen sometime.

Im strongly against this idea. Online is a big appeal to Memory League. This idea would make it extremely difficult for North and South American players. This would be extremely costly to us.
However, Im glad the Scandinavian tournament was a success and Id love to see more offline tournaments but not the World Championship.
I like the initiative in wanting another big Live In Person event. Over at the “Championship” page in Memory League you can find if you scroll all the way down the XMT competitions that have been held. (Titled now World Memory League Championship)
There could be created a big Live League Championship over a weekend with Top Players ( like 16 or 24)
Option two, anyone joins in (more days like 4 days) and there is many more rounds. ( Maybe like 8 Rounds) From lets say 64 players to 16 Players. Then the 2 Remaining days they play it out for the Tournament Champion Title!
With Slam’s and League we have a wonderful opportunity for Online participation.
Traveling have been a challenge with Memory Competitions. So I do think it might be a better idea to just add more competitons. One competition Big like XMT doesn’t sound bad!
I agree - the XMT was an amazing event, and I feel sorry for the people who joined the Memory League world too late to be part of the fun! It would be nice to have massive amounts of money behind the event to fly people in from all over the world, but I do see that travel costs will always be a problem…

It is more fun and exciting and it can be a a program!
Like brain show in China !
You can make a program from it and you can get advantages from it either if you put it on YouTube or a TV program !
You can contact too for TV channels to support the competition!
But as you said !
Right now the problem is how can all players can join it !
If we get a sponsore for it it will be great !
I agree 100% that the ideal format is a live/offline competition, more exciting for everyone. The original XMT was loads of fun, and it’s a real shame it’s not happening anymore. The problem is always sponsorship… Prize money would need to be enough imo to cover all competitors’ expenses. Until we can guarantee that, I think that online is the most equitable thing.
I would also love to see more offline competitions, and an offline World Championship would definitely be an absolute highlight.
However, I agree with Alex that appropriate sponsorship is essential—both in terms of prize money and ideally in covering travel expenses for participants. While the online World Championship may not match the atmosphere of an offline event, I believe the level of competition is actually much higher online, simply because it’s easier for the very best players to take part.
That’s why I’m strongly in favor of keeping the World Championship online unless and until we secure adequate sponsorship for a proper offline event.
