New technique ideas

I need to memorise in total around 1000 flashcards for exams but im not having much luck with the memory palace technique. Ive still got a month before they start so dont mind trying new things. If anyone has any suggestions id be very grateful! If it helps im good at using things like the major system to learn long numbers of decks of cards.

@alsa, you’ll find all sorts of good advice here on the forum! The Major system is a big skill when working with digits so you have a headstart it seems.

The type of mnemonic technique you use is really up to the type of information you are trying to store. For instance, a memory palace is an ordered set of locations used to associate with other images that you place there. That helps you walk through the whole set. It probably not a list of a 1000 things you are wanting to memorize but can you tell us a few specific examples of your cards? I’m sure you’ll get some great ideas.

Theres around 100 cards per topic, observations in chemical reactions or properties of elements are probably the hardest for me but i can learn definitions really quickly with active recall. For physics i can pretty much memorise the entire textbook and i know whats on almost every page but i dont have one for chemistry and writing my own notes doesnt seem to help

@alsa, I found an excellent free chemistry document but it may not cover what you want. But it could give you some great ideas. See the topic:

and you might find some more ideas by searching for “Chemistry” here on the forum. That’s as much as I know. If anyone else has specific techniques for your flashcards, they might show up here soon.

What if you use the image pair system? Create 1 image for the question and 1 image for the answer. Link the 2 images together. The question image will remind you of the answer image which will then help you recall the answer.
