I’m obsessed with chess and memory palaces, and I achieved a small win by memorizing whole chess board squares colors, ask me any chess square and I will tell you it’s color almost instantly, I did that by creating 64 Pao, it was actually kinda easy , the real beast is to memorize whole openings and each opening branch which is I wouldn’t say impossible because I hate that word , but takes so much effort it’s insane although I love insane but, I don’t know if it’s really worth, I estimated I would give every physical piece and I mean literally it’s own Pao thus 12 for black 12 for white, then every piece all of it’s it’s possible movement, for example any pawn has only 7 legal moves except the square behind it at start, anyway if you are a chess player probably don’t answer me because I already know you are going to say oh actually!? Gms don’t memorize whole board bro!, yeah I Know I don’t care it’s more of memory feat to me than chess feat. So if any expert here at mnemonics what do you suggest Im I on the right path? , also my Pao is really detailed and good I just got quickly exhausted, since you know how when you do so much effort and you don’t see quick results we human beings give up. Oh I completely forgot about memory palaces , did any one experiment and made what I’m trying to do so much easier, I’ve seen one chess memory palace book it was garbage hhh felt with the effort I did , I could write a better book lol hhh.
Have you tried playing blindfold yet? I’m actually not that into chess but would love to be able to keep everything in my mind clearly enough to play through a game blindfolded.
I highly recommend checking out this book: [(The Chess Memory Palace: Holden, John: 9798370251146: Amazon.com: Books)]. It was written by [(Profile - JohnDen - Art of Memory Forum)], who is also a member of our forum.
Yes John Holden he’s a legend he replied to me his method actually work but I find the book extremely boring I couldn’t read it and I didn’t get it, sorry John but his YouTube is far better once you get you will find it to be genius. I’m so sorry I ever talked bad about his book.
You literally read my mind
hhh not yet I was busy with college , but I’m able to play chess moves so comfortably then I would have achieved my goal, but way harder than you think since it’s not zero effort, and effort regardless how small builds up ,if it was zero effort for example to hold a paper in theory we could hold tons of paper, thus if visualizing one or two moves takes effort, visualizing a dozen to hundreds is extremely hard, and remember it must be done so one move is perfectly and so easily visualized that you don’t feel the effort at all.
