As the title says, I’m curious what the minimum memorization proficiency is for competitions. What times would correspond to a decent placement at a competition? I did some searches, but I couldn’t find anything on the topic.
Also, as I understand it, there are ten categories. Do all entrants have to partake in all categories? Would it be possible to only compete in select categories, like speed cards and numbers?
Lastly, does anybody have a recommendation for a good book that encompasses all categories in a competition? I currently only practice decimals, binary, and cards, but I have an idea of how the general concepts might apply to other categories.
I believe you must compete in all categories of a competition, otherwise, why practice for categories you aren’t as versed in at all? I wouldn’t know for sure though as I’ve never competed.
I recommend checking the website of your country’s memory championship as it may have scores of everyone who competed in the country’s most recent championship, and from those you can get an idea of what to aim for in each discipline.
