Duplex method for square roots

In a previous thread I talked about the duplex method for squaring numbers. Read that first if you have no idea how this method works. Otherwise; you might not understand this thread. If you can square numbers using duplex numbers, then taking the square root is just working backwards, which we will do here. Let’s go forward first and then backward. I’ve written up methods for some algorithms for these methods—suitable for Memoriad:

• Square roots to many decimal places
• Division by large numbers

Hope that helps! I’m curious to know when/whether they will announce the next Memoriad competition. Their team hasn’t said much since postponing the Dubai 2020 event because of covid.

Is there a method for additions that top competitors use?
Currently I just do single digit (sometimes double digit) additions as fast as I can.
