How skilled should I be to participate in championships?
also, I currently memorized a 2-digit major system peg list, what other techniques should I use? and how do I make use of them all with examples for practical situations
I recommend Douglas Hoff’s book “memory tools”, there are condensed most of the memory techniques.
You’ll need a card system if you’re going to participate in all memory league events. This can be connected to your number system (highly recommended) or be its own thing.
In terms of skill, you can just start doing matches. It will pair you with opponents in your skill tier.
If your goal is competitive placing in the actual top tier championship, you’ll need to work towards elite level times. Sub 30 seconds for most disciplines. But you don’t have to jump right to that. You can start wherever you’re at.
Jump straight in! There is no minimum requirement, and you’ll learn a lot faster if you’ve got experience of what the competitions are like! ![]()
Just like @ Ben Pridmore said, you can just participate whenever you see a competition.
Just so you know, in 2021 there was a Russian Memory League Competition and it were divided in 3 Levels:
Beginning
Amateur
Pros
Depending on participants, adjustments can be made!
