Memorizing a list of sequences for a game

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently been dabbling with the idea to memorize a sequence of four different rotations for a boss fight in a game I play (oldschool runescape, the boss is called Zulrah). I thought it’d be fun to apply memorization techniques to this rather than rote learning. I’m not entirely sure how to go about it though, so maybe anyone has some suggestions.

This is a list of four different set patterns of the boss fight. The information is vital to be successfully clear the boss fight. The first stage is always the same, depending on the second stage determines the rotation the boss goes through.
The colored circles indicate the position of the boss. The small yellow dots (or lines in some cases) indicate the position the player should be in. To keep it simple at the start I’d like to keep the focus in just the color of the circles, their position and the place the player should be at.

My idea was to mark the possible locations of the boss (the circles) as A/B/C/D, as there are 4 possible positions. For the player locations I decided to go for positions 1/2/3/4/5. (The yellow lines are basically the entire area between two postions).
I don’t know if clarification is necessary, but ill point the player locations through the places on the clock:
1 = 9 o’clock
2 = between 10-11 o’clock
3 = 12 o’clock
4 = between 1-2 o’clock
5 = 3 o’clock

Now when looking at the first list of the first rotation I get something that looks like this:
(the G/R/B at the start stand for the colors Green/Red/Blue, which is important remember)
G - 1 - A
R - 1 - A
B - 1 - A
G - 4 - C
R - 4 - A
B - 3 - D
G - 2 - C
B - 4 - C
G - 5 - D
R - 5 - A

Now all I have to do is memorise this list and make sure I can remember the information within a second or two. My idea was to use a memory palace and make each area of the palace dedicated to that specific rotation (we need 4 in the end). The numbers and letters will be certain pegs and will be placed along the memory palace.

I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions on improving this idea and I’m curious to hear about it!
Cheers

If I were to pursue your use case I would do the following.

Create universal bridging figures for R/G/B, 1-12, and A-D in PAO categories (RGB=Person 1-12=Action A-D=Object)

Put 3 images per location in your memory palace.

My random associations are:

Person (R/G/B)
R=Ronald McDonald
G=Grover from Sesame Street
B=Bart Simpson

Action (1-12)
My major system actions for 1-12
Shot, Swirling Dragon Arrow, Slam Dunk, Harpoon, King Kong Rage etc.

Object (A-D)
A=Apple
B=Basketball
C=Cookie
D=Drumstick (Chicken)

G - 1 - A - Locus 1 - Grover Shoots an Apple
R - 1 - A - Locus 2 - Ronald Shoots an Apple
B - 1 - A - Locus 3 - Bart Shoots an Apple
G - 4 - C - Locus 4 - Grover Harpoons a Cookie
R - 4 - A - Locus 5 - Ronald Harpoons an Apple
B - 3 - D - Locus 6 - Bart Slam Dunks a Drumstick
G - 2 - C - Locus 7 - Grover shoots a swirling dragon arrow into a cookie
B - 4 - C - Locus 8 - Bart Harpoons a Cookie
G - 5 - D - Locus 9 - Grover beats his chest like king kong with chicken drumsticks
R - 5 - A - Locus 10 - Ronald beats his chest like king kong except his pecs are apples and get destroyed in the process

Steps :

1. First look at the boss positions.
• (1) :spades: - (central position)
• (2) :heart: - (left side)
• (3) :clubs: - (middle)
• (4) :diamonds: - (right side)

2. Second now look at the players positions.

• (1) - 1 o’clock
• (2) - 2 o’clock
• (3) - 3 o’clock
• (4) - 4 o’clock
• (5) - 5 o’clock
• (6) - 6 o’clock
• (7) - 7 o’clock
• (8) - 8 o’clock
• (9) - 9 o’clock
• (10) - 10 o’clock
• (J) - 11 o’clock
• (Q) - 12 o’clock

3. Final step left now, is the colours.

Green - any green objects. Like melon, grapes, guava, cucumber…

Red - any red objects. Like chilli, blood, apple…

Blue - any blue objects. Like sea, poison, blue flowers…

Okay, so we are done with the procedure.

Let’s see some examples.

  1. central position - 8 o’clock - Green

:spades:8 - Green (goku eating melon)
You have full freedom of choosing actions.

  1. central position - 9 o’clock - Red

:spades:9 - Red (naruto covered in blood)

Rest examples I leave up to you. Feel free to ask any questions if you still have some doubts.
