Hello everyone,
I’ve recently been dabbling with the idea to memorize a sequence of four different rotations for a boss fight in a game I play (oldschool runescape, the boss is called Zulrah). I thought it’d be fun to apply memorization techniques to this rather than rote learning. I’m not entirely sure how to go about it though, so maybe anyone has some suggestions.
This is a list of four different set patterns of the boss fight. The information is vital to be successfully clear the boss fight. The first stage is always the same, depending on the second stage determines the rotation the boss goes through.
The colored circles indicate the position of the boss. The small yellow dots (or lines in some cases) indicate the position the player should be in. To keep it simple at the start I’d like to keep the focus in just the color of the circles, their position and the place the player should be at.
My idea was to mark the possible locations of the boss (the circles) as A/B/C/D, as there are 4 possible positions. For the player locations I decided to go for positions 1/2/3/4/5. (The yellow lines are basically the entire area between two postions).
I don’t know if clarification is necessary, but ill point the player locations through the places on the clock:
1 = 9 o’clock
2 = between 10-11 o’clock
3 = 12 o’clock
4 = between 1-2 o’clock
5 = 3 o’clock
Now when looking at the first list of the first rotation I get something that looks like this:
(the G/R/B at the start stand for the colors Green/Red/Blue, which is important remember)
G - 1 - A
R - 1 - A
B - 1 - A
G - 4 - C
R - 4 - A
B - 3 - D
G - 2 - C
B - 4 - C
G - 5 - D
R - 5 - A
Now all I have to do is memorise this list and make sure I can remember the information within a second or two. My idea was to use a memory palace and make each area of the palace dedicated to that specific rotation (we need 4 in the end). The numbers and letters will be certain pegs and will be placed along the memory palace.
I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions on improving this idea and I’m curious to hear about it!
Cheers
