Please elaborate the meaning of “Puns”?

A pun is a joke based on multiple meanings of a word or similar sounding words.

For example, if a group of people are about to eat salad, and someone says “lettuce eat”, that’s a pun, because it has two meanings based on similar sounds: “let us eat” and “Lettuce. Eat.”

If you browse around on punpedia.org there are many examples.
