Has anyone tried this and does anyone know if this is an official event in memory competitions?
I came across a really helpful mnemonic for Morse a while ago and was able to learn read and write it pretty quickly, but the problem is if you don’t also learn it by the sounds its transmitted way too quickly to decipher by ear for me at least.
I know there’s methods for binary out there but haven’t had the time to even begin looking into it yet.
This one was good for spelling out the sounds as in dit dah but the images weren’t working for me as well as the previous mnemonic.
Theres also a method of assigning stressed syllables to remember the letters. Nelson Dellis has a video on that method.
For morse code, I assign dot to 0 and dash to 1, then memorise the sequence using PAO and attach it to the image for the letter ( I am just starting and don’t know how effective it will be in the long run) but I am surprised not to have come across anyone talking about this, though I got the idea from Nelson Dellis’ video about the Simon game.
For binary, I suggest learning to chunk in threes, Dominic O’Brien mentions a system in his book, but I simply perform a quick conversion to denary for example, 000111101010111010 becomes 0,7,5,2,7,2 which I then further compress to 07-52-72, which using my PAO becomes Alex 07(a friend of mine) failing 52 a Microphone 72. (I started using this recently too)
PS: I used an arbitrary assignment method for my PAO
