Maya's Memory Palaces

As most of you know by now, I have a website where I show my memory palaces. Today I had a day off, so I decided to try something new, add a video instead of a map. The quality of the video is crap, and I’ll have to find a way to improve that, but I’d love to have your feedback on the format for upcoming memory palaces on the page.

You can see an example here:

Please let me know what you think and how I should improve te page  I aim to make the virtual tours as understandible and good as possible, so other people can use them easily.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Maya,
I am very impressed by the quality of your latest memory palace (training grounds) with video. Thank you SO SO much for your willingness to share with us.

I find it very difficult to follow other people’s memory palace without a video as I can’t see the relative positions of the loci, i.e. how the loci are connected with each other. Your video has made it very easy to follow.

I can’t imagine how much effort and time it will take to produce a video of such quality, can’t really fault it. If I have to make a suggestion, maybe a little verbal/written description of the “direction of travel” may be helpful, when the path from one loci to another is not obvious. I.e. The only part I cannot follow is how we get from 140 to 141.

Some examples of “direction of travel” could be, for example:
*Travelling through the tunnel located on the left of where we came in
*Travelling back from where we came in
*Heading in the 2 o’clock direction
*Turning right then left

Other than that, it’s perfect. Thank you again.

It’s really good. It can be much more better if you can add the video… I am impressed…

You can’t see the video? :o

Thanks for the advice, I like it! I will see what I can do to put it in

Great site!

Unless something is wrong with my computer, I don’t hear any sound on the videos. Some narration would help in addition to the numbers of your loci/stations.

Did you ever come across my discussion with Timothy Moser about using video games as Memory Palaces? If not, PM me and I’ll send you the link. I think you’ll find it interesting.

There is no audio unfortunately :frowning: I tried recording, but it wouldn’t work.

I have not read that topic yet :o

hypercam2 is a good free program to record your pc screen with narration – all at the same time. I really like it and use it to make youtube type videos.

I will take a look at it

I mainly can’t record narration because my microphone is broken, but I can add music next time? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, nice to meet you, so as to speak.

I was really interested in seeing the video, but the page is not loading here (Wales). Is the site down at the moment ?

Anyway, I will watch it sometime, somehow. Hopefully you’ll create many more.

Hi Anthony. Would you post that link here please ? it will help people find the site faster. You could also make a page for it, to help newcomers, or just for interested old-timers.

PS. I’ve watched/read a lot of your work. Good stuff, keep it coming.

Great work Mayarra! Thank you for doing that for us!

I’m not sure if this was pointed out before, but loci 63 is twice, so there are actually 146 loci.

I had noticed it, but I thought I also changed it in the full length video :stuck_out_tongue: the shot of 62 and 63 should actually be 61 and 62

Due to a busy life I didn’t get to update my website for a while, so the past few days I have worked on it.

It mainly had a few problems that people pointed out.

  • The images stopped working. This had to do with the PhotoBucket services changing. It no longer allowed third party hosting, which meant that I could still place my images on PhotoBucket but couldnt use it to show on other websites, which was unfortunate. I now hosted them on a temporary spot while looking for a better alternative for PhotoBucket, just so the images would show again.

  • I started recording videos for all the palaces, to show the journeys better. I can’t do all of them just yet (some of the palaces are in locations of the game that have to be unlocked.) But I hope to have all of them uploaded by the time Christmas is around.

  • It used to have unexpected downtimes. This is a thing of WordPress itself and not my website unfortunately, if you catch my site to be down, try again a bit later and it might work again.

Have you tried uploading them to WordPress? I think there is a “media” link in the left sidebar where you can drag-and-drop to upload images in bulk.

Not recently. Back when I started the site there was a rather small limit I had that I could upload there, I will see how that is now

Thank you Ma’am
