Hiya,
My name is Matthew Visser, I am from Ireland, and I have been lurking on the website for 3 years now without ever contributing and actively learning on it. Well this changes now.
I am tired of saying to myself that, “One day I’ll incorporate this technique into my life” at 2am almost every night. I’m torturing myself at this point.
I feel like that if I shut up, sit down and immerse myself into the world of memory learning, my life wouldn’t be so bad after all.
I’ve written Major System into my notebook, Alphabetical System into my notebook, learn it for a week and forget about. (might have to do something about fear of failure, idk) And I find it frustrating that I cannot keep it going.
As I was reading on the forum, I would follow other memory enthusiast’s journal, I found that the community is super helpful and I love it.
So I figured… accountability. Maybe writing on the forum will help aid me in my endeavour into keeping a fit, sharp mind, by sharing my story.
I have a list of goals of things I want to memorize:
- Countries of the world and their corresponding flag.
- Timeline of ancient history and well as modern history.
- Memorize countless stories and quick jokes.
- Learn my mother’s tongue, Polish, as she finds it hard to speak english.
- Learn Electrical Engineering and all the complexities that comes with it.
With this list, I aim to keep myself accountable writing weekly reports on what has worked for me and what hasn’t. What I have learned and what I have failed to do. Failure isn’t the end, it is the mark of something new.
Peace out,
Matthew.
