I’m looking to build a strong and systematic memory practice, mainly for study and learning purposes. I’m currently an engineering student (electrical, control systems, programming, math-heavy courses), and my main goals are:
- Memorising equations and formulas, along with their applications.
- Retaining multi-step procedures (like coding workflows, problem-solving steps, or control algorithms).
- Remembering syntax, concepts, and technical details for programming and electrical systems.
- Also using memory techniques for everyday practical things like shopping lists.
I tried doing the Phenomenal Memory course but found it damn useless and stopped after lesson 4 or 5. This was a decade ago and I cant really remember much
I’d love to hear your recommendations for books (or other resources) that give a solid, systematic training path.
So my questions are:
- Which books best teach a progressive memory training system (not just isolated tricks)?
- Are there books particularly suited for STEM students (math, coding, engineering) to apply mnemonics effectively?
- Any resources you’ve personally found helpful for combining mnemonics with spaced repetition for long-term retention?
