Hello guys! I am searching for different lists or information to memorize and I have recently decided I want to memorize the Bible. What I mean is that I am looking for different lists of stuff related to the Bible. I have for example memorized all the fruits of the spirit and the plagues of Egypt, but I have now ran out of ideas for what I could memorize next. I am looking for other stuff than just memorizing verbatim of bible verses. Anyone have any ideas?
Books of the Bible
12 Tribes of Israel chronologically, Here is a really catchy song my kids and I learned it quickly with.
The Apostles
Messianic prophecy the CH and Vs references if you don’t want to do verbatim text
The 10 Commandments
1-3 Key points from each chapter
I find maps really interesting.
Like who were Israel (and Judah) neighbours? (And if you want to go further, what other things were happening at the same time in these neighboring countries, or in the region?) Knowing a little bit of context helps a lot!
(I know it’s not a list, but you could recite it in list form if you wish “neighbours are the Phoenicians, the Philistines, the Edomites, etc.”)
Prophecies (although that would make a super long list!), maybe making categories (concerning events, concerning empires, concerning the Messiah, etc).
The 5 quorban sacrifices (in Leviticus) (and other occurrences of them outside of the tabernacle/temple context).
The Jewish feasts (also from Leviticus). And why not the Christian feasts, not that it’s prescribed in the Bible, but still referring to biblical events.
The parables.
The miracles of Jesus (but also older, prophets like Elijah and Elisha have performed miracles too).
The kings, judges, and prophets (although again there are a lot and you’ll maybe want a limiting criteria).
Do you have a link to a map from that time?
You can find almost anything on Wikipedia.
For example: Slika:Kingdoms of Israel and Judah map 830.svg - Wikipedija, prosta enciklopedija
-10 Commandments
-12 Disciples
-12 Israel Tribes
-7 Days of Creation
-9 Spirit fruit
-30+ Attributes of God
-10 plagues of Egypt
-6 Armor of God
-66 Books of Bible
-Pauls mission trips itinerary
I used churches as a memory palace for each of these items, the ones I was a member or just visited. Helps to keep the theme of bible related subjects.
Extras
-Catecism questions and answers
-4 Spiritual Laws (Evangelism tool)
Having this came in hand(mind) when making a bible trivia challenge without any resources with our youth group hahah
Do you think of any list I can add to this?
Which ones you also have?
Oh wow. I have not heard about the 30 attributes of God. Perhaps we have not talked about it enough, because I have listened to sermons.
I have memorized the fruits, plagues, and the disciples. I tried the tribes too but I think I complicated things when I tried to remember how they were related too and now the tribes have faded away. I can name Benjamin and Juda (of course), but then I am unsure. Rachel and Lea are coming up and correct me if I’m wrong, but all the tribes have male names right?
Yeah they were all named after the sons of Jacob (Israel) he did have at least one daughter named Dinah.
Only The 12 Tribes was the suggestion, but that brings another list idea, the lineage of Jesus Adam…Abraham Isaac Jacob…to Messiah Jesus found in Matthew 1
Theres 2 wives Leah and Rachel and 2 concubines Bilhah and Zilpah also mentioned in the song but the chorus is to remember the 12. Try the song! I couldn’t forget them if I tried now ![]()
The genealogies.
I remember struggling with those.
You know, from Adam and Eve through Noah to Shem to Abraham and on.
Did you limit them to the “main” characters. Like left Shem, Ham and Japhet (sorry is I spell the names wrong) because they don’t have their own major story and just memorize Noah?
No, but you can if you want. The important thing is that whatever way you choose makes sense to you. ![]()
