Need a list of books about memory and/or mental hacks and techniques that you guys suggest

@andrehsv, if you are just looking for a survey book of techniques at a beginner level, I found that Nelson Dellis’s Remember It covered much ground and made the techniques usable. All survey type books have good tips and I’m sure other people will have their favorites. Harry Lorayne’s The Memory Book served me well for many years but there are many better books on the market now.

This is an older post of mine that highlights a number of memory books: My Recent Reviews [Memory Books]

Since then, I’ve read a number of others, but the highlight has to be Lynne Kelly’s Memory Craft. Highly recommended.

I also have to recommend Dominic O’Brien’s audiotape “Quantum Memory Power.” (I believe this is also available as a book…although it might just be a workbook meant to accompany the audiobook.)

I’ve recently done a bit of research on books, as I was interested in reading a handful to build upon what I’ve already learned through these forums, youtube channels and general research. I think it’s worthwhile doing a bit of research yourself before jumping in, to see where exactly your interests lie, and what you want to get out of it. For me, when these books arrive (I’m excited), I will be practising my memory techniques I have already established on the books I’ve chosen.

My four books (note that these are not recommendations, as I haven’t actually read them yet)…

Advanced Memory Palaces: The second book you should read on your memory – by Joe Reddington

I have a bit of prgramming/database development background, and this book sounds like it will fit well with how my brain works, search and retrieval is important to me, and I think Joe addresses these issues in depth.

De Umbris Idearum: On the Shadows of Ideas: by Giordano Bruno (Author), Scott Gosnell (Translator)

I find lots of Giordano’s ideas intriguing, particularly memory wheels, and I’m very interested in digging further into his memory palace techniques. I listened to an interview that Anthony Metivier did with Scott Gosnell that piqued my interest in this book.

Memory Craft by Lynne Kelly

I am fascinated by how different cultures utilise their memories as a form of passing down knowledge from generation to generation. I am Australian, and am particularly interested in learning more about the traditional owners of our land, and how they use their country as a memory palace, along with music, art and craft for learning and remembering.

The Art Of Memory by Frances A Yates

This one seems to be considered a classic that tracks the development of memory techniques through time, from ancient Greece and Rome, through to the middle ages, and the renaissance period
